Job DescriptionJob Title: Material Handler (Day Shift)Job Description This role supports a large forging and fabrication operation that produces aerospace and airplane components by safely moving and tracking heavy titanium and other metals throughout the shop. You will operate forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes to transport large pieces of material between departments while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the correct parts reach the correct locations. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, a solid safety mindset, and extensive experience handling heavy materials in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Operate forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes to move large pieces of heavy titanium and other metals throughout the manufacturing shop., • Safely transport materials between departments while following all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines., • Keep accurate track of parts as they move through the shop, ensuring proper documentation and inventory updates., • Verify that the correct parts are delivered to the correct departments, paying close attention to part numbers, labels, and routing instructions., • Use RF scanners and computer-based inventory systems, including ERP or SAP, to record material movements and maintain accurate inventory data., • Support shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks, staging materials, and organizing shipments., • Assist with general labor tasks related to material handling, including organizing stock, maintaining orderly storage areas, and supporting warehouse inventory control., • Operate sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and other powered industrial equipment as needed to support daily production and warehouse operations., • Follow established procedures for loading and unloading materials to prevent damage to products and equipment., • Collaborate with production, shipping, and inventory teams to ensure timely movement of materials and minimize production delays., • Maintain a clean, organized, and clearly labeled work area, contributing to the overall organization and efficiency of the shop., • Adhere to all safety policies, wear required PPE, and promptly report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues., • Work day shift hours and be flexible to work additional hours, Fridays, and weekends as needed to support production demands., • Train on the day shift for approximately two weeks and be prepared to transition to second or third shift if required.Essential Skills, • At least 3 years of experience as a material handler in a manufacturing environment., • At least 2 years of experience operating a side loader, overhead crane, and forklift., • Proven experience moving heavy metal or large products in a manufacturing or warehouse environment., • Proficiency operating forklifts, including sit-down forklifts and reach trucks, in a safe and efficient manner., • Hands-on experience with overhead crane operation for handling large or heavy materials., • Experience with material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, and staging materials., • Background in shipping and receiving operations within a manufacturing or warehouse setting., • Experience using RF scanners for tracking and managing inventory movements., • Familiarity with ERP systems, including SAP, for computer-based inventory control., • Ability to accurately track inventory and maintain organized warehouse inventory records., • Strong attention to detail to ensure the correct parts are moved to the correct departments., • Ability to perform general labor and material handling tasks in a physically demanding environment., • Willingness and ability to work varying shifts, including potential transition from day shift to second or third shift as needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Extensive experience handling larger materials and heavy components in an industrial setting., • Experience working in a highly organized manufacturing or warehouse environment with clearly labeled areas and materials., • Comfort using computer inventory systems and entering data accurately., • Prior experience in a forge, fabrication, or metalworking environment is beneficial., • Flexibility to work longer hours and additional days, including Fridays and weekends, when production requires., • Ability to adapt to shift changes after initial training on the day shift., • Strong safety mindset and familiarity with standard PPE requirements in manufacturing environments.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures can be hot in the summer. The facility has an older exterior, but the shop floor is kept as clean as possible, with an extremely organized layout and clearly labeled areas and materials. You will work around heavy metals, large components, and industrial equipment such as forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes. Day shift hours are generally 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Fridays from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and longer hours or weekend work as needed. All positions train on the day shift for approximately two weeks before moving to their assigned shift if required. Night shift typically runs Sunday 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., then Monday through Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with Thursday as needed. The dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a work shirt, along with appropriate personal protective equipment provided or required by the employer. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookside Village, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
