REPAIR TECHNICIAN IN CARLSBAD - Entry Level 6 months of experience preferred Job Description The Repair Technician diagnoses, repairs, and tests customer-returned electronic equipment to restore it to full working order and ensure it meets quality and industry standards. This role uses sound judgment to troubleshoot to the component level, perform rework and modifications, and document all corrective actions and failure data in company systems while working under general supervision. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot and process equipment returned by customers for repair or exchange, ensuring timely and accurate resolution., • Diagnose equipment failures down to the component level and compare findings with customer complaints to confirm root cause., • Prepare detailed repair estimates when required and obtain customer approval before proceeding with work., • Perform rework, modifications, updates, and realignments to restore equipment to proper working order., • Carry out and document corrective actions taken to resolve issues and return equipment to functional condition., • Perform functional and performance testing to ensure equipment operates according to specifications and standards., • Inspect finished products to verify conformance to industry requirements and workmanship standards., • Document failure codes, repair activities, and test results in company systems, including AGILE and MES, to maintain accurate records., • Identify recurring problems with products or procedures and report them to the appropriate leadership for further action., • Address service and reliability issues as they arise, ensuring corrective measures are implemented., • Initiate Engineering Action Requests (EAR) when necessary to drive design, process, or documentation improvements., • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation to support accurate troubleshooting and repair., • Use common hand tools and required test equipment safely and effectively during troubleshooting and repair activities., • Collaborate and communicate with individuals outside the department or company as needed to support repair and service activities. Essential Skills • Strong ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment to the component level., • Proficiency in soldering, including surface mount components., • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation., • Competence in using common hand tools required for electronic repair work., • Ability to operate required electronic test equipment safely and accurately., • Experience using testing programs and systems such as AGILE and MES., • Sound judgment and decision-making skills when performing repairs and testing., • Computer literacy and comfort working in electronic documentation systems., • Ability to inspect and verify conformance to industry and workmanship standards., • Capability to document failure codes, repair actions, and test results clearly and accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with electrical repair and troubleshooting in an electronics environment., • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication., • Soldering and testing experience in a production or service setting., • Computer savvy with the ability to learn and use new software tools., • Associate degree in Electronics Technology, technical school training, certificate in electronics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with an understanding of basic electronics theory (preferred). Work Environment This role operates in a technical repair and testing environment where the noise level is usually quiet to moderate, with occasional periods of loud noise. The position requires frequent contact with individuals outside the department or company. At times, you may work near moving mechanical parts, in high or precarious places, and be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and the risk of electric shock. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
