Tombot is a robotics startup based in the greater Los Angeles area. Jennie, our robotic puppy, was named a Best of CES Award winner at CES 2026 and was designed to support more than 50 million seniors living with dementia worldwide. We are building the systems and team needed to bring these robotic companions to the people who need them most. Tombot is hiring a hands-on Director of Information Technology to build and lead the company's IT function through its next stage of growth. This role will own the technology infrastructure, enterprise systems, security, service delivery, and operating processes that support our employees, business operations, and customer-facing systems. You will initially serve as Tombot's senior-most internal IT leader and primary IT resource. The right person is comfortable moving between strategy and execution, from setting the IT roadmap and advising executives to configuring systems, resolving operational issues, managing vendors, and preparing the function to scale. What You Will Own • Develop and execute a practical IT roadmap aligned with company growth, product launch priorities, operational requirements, and available resources., • Design, administer, and improve cloud infrastructure, networks, endpoints, identity and access management, collaboration tools, backups, recovery procedures, and security controls., • Lead the selection, configuration, implementation, integration, and administration of CRM and ERP platforms, including Zoho applications., • Partner with Finance, Operations, Customer Experience, Sales, and other teams to convert business requirements into reliable system workflows and reporting., • Establish role-based access, multifactor authentication, device management, patching, monitoring, incident response, business continuity, disaster recovery, and data retention practices., • Build an effective help desk and service delivery model, including intake, prioritization, escalation, issue tracking, and service expectations., • Own employee technology onboarding and offboarding, account provisioning, equipment deployment, access changes, and timely access removal., • Create software approval, license management, hardware, asset tracking, inventory, documentation, and equipment lifecycle processes., • Manage office technology and equipment logistics for current and future locations, including networks, audiovisual systems, workstations, vendors, and contractors., • Evaluate and manage technology vendors, consultants, managed service providers, contracts, renewals, purchasing, and the IT budget., • Support the systems, deployment, and reliability needs associated with mobile applications, connected devices, and product updates in partnership with Engineering., • Identify operational, security, scalability, and resourcing gaps early, and present clear recommendations and tradeoffs to executive leadership., • Build the future IT organization, including role design, hiring, onboarding, coaching, delegation, and performance management. Required Qualifications • Candidates must have the following experience and capabilities:, • 7 or more years of progressive information technology experience., • 2 or more years leading an IT function, team, or major technology portfolio., • Experience building or significantly maturing an IT function in an early-stage, growth-stage, or rapidly scaling organization., • Hands-on experience implementing and integrating CRM and ERP platforms., • Broad technical experience across cloud infrastructure, systems administration, networks, endpoint management, identity and access management, cybersecurity, backup, and disaster recovery., • Experience establishing IT service management, asset management, software governance, vendor management, and documentation practices., • Experience planning and supporting physical office technology, including networks, equipment, vendors, and new-location setup., • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and operational priorities in a fast-moving, resource-conscious environment., • Strong business judgment and the ability to explain technical risks, decisions, and tradeoffs to nontechnical stakeholders., • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications • Direct experience administering Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, Zoho One, or related Zoho applications., • Experience in a regulated or compliance-focused industry, such as medical devices, healthcare, or financial services., • Experience supporting IoT products, mobile applications, connected devices, or customer-facing technology platforms., • Experience as the first or senior-most IT leader in a startup., • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, cybersecurity, IT service management, project management, or enterprise systems. What Success Looks Like • Tombot has a clear, prioritized IT roadmap that supports growth and product launch needs., • Core systems are secure, documented, integrated, supportable, and appropriately scalable., • CRM and ERP workflows are implemented accurately and adopted by the teams that use them., • Employee support, onboarding, offboarding, access, and equipment processes are timely and reliable., • Technology risks, outages, security issues, vendor concerns, and capacity constraints are identified early and managed effectively., • IT spending, vendor performance, service levels, and major projects are visible and well controlled. Workplace and Travel This role is based onsite at Tombot's Santa Clarita, California office during standard business hours. Employees may work remotely on Flexible Fridays when business and role requirements allow. Occasional extended hours may be required for critical incidents, project deadlines, office changes, or product milestones. Travel may be required up to 10% for visits to manufacturers, suppliers, logistics partners, or company locations. Work Authorization Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
