Job Description Job Title: Laborer Job Description This laborer role supports both branch operations and off-site events by safely handling materials, assisting with disposal processes, and providing excellent customer service. You work in the plant to separate and process various types of paint and other materials, and you may optionally support weekend events to help customers properly dispose of their items. Responsibilities • Work at the plant to help separate materials according to established procedures and safety guidelines., • Support the paint department by dumping paint into 100-gallon tanks, handling water-based, latex, oil, cement, and rubber-based paints in a safe and organized manner., • Load and unload products from the back of semi-trucks using pallet jacks or forklifts, ensuring safe and efficient material handling., • Place labels on products once they have been processed and disposed of properly, maintaining accurate identification and tracking., • Assist with inventory activities, including counting, documenting, and organizing materials received and processed., • Help load and unload trailers, ensuring materials are secured and handled according to company standards., • Operate fork trucks and other mobile equipment to move containers to and from storage and treatment areas and to load or unload trailers., • Optionally work at weekend events (typically Friday through Sunday) as part of a team of 3–10 people, depending on the event size., • At events, help customers place materials into the correct bins based on material type and disposal requirements., • Load products into the back of semi-trucks at events, maintaining safe lifting and handling practices., • Interact with customers at events by answering basic questions, educating them on proper material disposal, and thanking them for their support., • Separate and label materials at events according to what they are and where they need to go, ensuring accurate sorting and documentation., • Use an iPad to take pictures of inventory received from customers and assist with basic data entry or tracking tasks., • Work safely around loud alarms and warning sounds from trucks, cars, and commercial vehicles, maintaining awareness of surroundings at all times., • Collaborate effectively with team members in both plant and event settings to meet operational goals and maintain a safe work environment. Essential Skills • Experience with general labor and material handling tasks in an industrial, warehouse, or similar environment., • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds in the field and at the branch on a regular basis., • Ability to operate forklifts, fork trucks, pallet jacks, and other mobile equipment for loading, unloading, and moving materials., • Comfort working in a team environment, collaborating with 3–10 people at events and with plant staff during regular shifts., • Ability to interact professionally with customers at events, including speaking clearly, answering basic questions, and providing courteous service., • Basic proficiency using an iPad or similar tablet to take photos and document inventory from customers., • Ability to work safely around loud alarms and warning sounds from trucks, cars, and commercial vehicles., • Reliability to work assigned weekday shifts and, if chosen, optional weekend events. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Packing, picking, and inventory support in warehouse or industrial settings., • Familiarity with handling different types of materials, including paints and related products, in accordance with safety guidelines., • Interest in obtaining Hazwhoper training and certification, with free training provided if you do not already hold a certification., • Strong attention to detail when separating, labeling, and documenting materials., • Good communication skills for educating and thanking customers at events., • Comfort working both indoors at the plant and outdoors at events in varying conditions. Work Environment You work primarily at a plant facility with structured weekday shifts, either Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The environment includes warehouse and treatment areas where materials are stored, processed, and loaded onto trailers. You regularly use forklifts, fork trucks, pallet jacks, and iPads as part of daily operations. The site can be noisy, with alarms and warning sounds from trucks, cars, and commercial vehicles, requiring consistent attention to safety. Optional weekend work at events typically occurs Friday through Sunday and involves outdoor or semi-outdoor settings where you work in teams, interact with customers, and help load materials into semi-trucks. Dress is practical and suitable for industrial and event work, with appropriate safety gear and attire to handle material processing and outdoor conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washougal, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
