Job Description Aerotek is hiring for a HVAC Technician - Servicing side Job Description: This person will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within a large manufacturing facility. This role includes reviewing customer specifications, interpreting and applying design requirements, supporting system design and integration, overseeing supplier type testing review and approval, and providing commissioning support. The position requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance and repair on HVAC systems, including heating, air conditioning, and ventilating equipment in commercial and residential-type building environments., • Review customer specifications and design requirements to ensure HVAC systems and related equipment meet operational and performance expectations., • Support system design and system integration activities, collaborating with other trades and contractors to ensure seamless building system operation., • Review and approve supplier type testing, ensuring equipment meets technical, safety, and performance standards before commissioning., • Provide commissioning support for HVAC and related mechanical and electrical systems, verifying proper installation, operation, and documentation., • Carry out mechanical and electrical inspections on equipment to maintain optimal performance and identify potential issues before they become critical., • Perform specific preventive maintenance tasks, including oiling, greasing, belt adjustment, cleaning of equipment, and other routine service activities., • Diagnose equipment issues, determine whether repair or maintenance is required, and document work performed and findings accurately., • Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and system performance, and complete and submit all required paperwork in a timely manner., • Use technical instructions, blueprints, and schematics to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize HVAC and building systems., • Apply computer skills and relevant software tools to monitor, document, and support HVAC operations and maintenance activities., • Serve as a representative to other contractors, building owners, and trades, ensuring professional communication and coordination on facility-related work., • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and communicate findings and recommended corrective actions to the appropriate representatives or owners., • Provide clear, understandable explanations of technical information to clients and stakeholders, ensuring they are informed about system conditions and recommended solutions., • Offer advice on additional services that may benefit customers, focusing on system efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance., • Work both independently and as part of a team of technicians to maintain the structural integrity and operational reliability of the facility., • Demonstrate reliability and consistency in attendance and performance, recognizing that the crew runs lean and each team member’s presence impacts the group., • Perform occasional overtime work when needed to support facility operations and maintenance requirements. Essential Skills • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in commercial HVAC service., • High school diploma or GED., • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills with HVAC and building systems., • Ability to read and understand technical instructions, blueprints, and schematics., • Experience at a journey-level maintaining, repairing, and operating HVAC equipment, including air conditioning and ventilating systems., • Strong knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods commonly used to repair air conditioning and heating equipment in commercial and residential buildings., • Strong understanding of principles of operation for air conditioning and heating systems, including safety practices related to HVAC work., • Excellent troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and HVAC-related issues., • Ability to diagnose equipment problems and determine appropriate repair or maintenance actions., • Ability to keep accurate records of work performed, inspections, and maintenance activities., • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information in a clear and understandable manner., • Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision., • Strong computer skills and the ability to use necessary software tools to support HVAC duties., • Demonstrated reliability and ability to work effectively as part of a small, lean technical team. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with electrical systems related to HVAC and building maintenance., • Experience in plumbing and general building maintenance within a facility environment., • Preavius experience in facility and facilities maintenance, including structural and systems integrity., • Hands-on experience with boilers and associated equipment., • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings., • Experience in service, repair, and preventive maintenance for a variety of mechanical and building systems., • Comfort working in a large manufacturing facility with multiple technicians and trades., • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to act as a professional representative to owners, contractors, and other trades. Work Environment The role is based in a large manufacturing facility where the Building Engineer helps maintain the structural integrity and reliable operation of building systems. The environment involves working closely with a team of approximately 10 technicians who must function both as a cohesive unit and independently on assigned tasks. Because the crew runs lean, reliability and consistent attendance are important to avoid placing strain on teammates. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime as needed but not routinely heavy. Work involves hands-on interaction with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, using tools, equipment, and software typical for facility and preventive maintenance in an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
