Tradewind Recruitment are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant specialist primary school in County Durham. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced professional looking to make a positive impact in an inclusive and supportive educational environment. You will be working with children whom have profound and multiple learning difficulties, and/or working with pupils diagnosed with autism. The role is to start on 3rd September 2026 and will be full-time 08:20am-15:20pm Monday to Friday, with a view to a permanent position for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities:\n\n • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)\n, • Assist students with learning activities, ensuring they are fully included in lessons.\n, • Adapt and modify learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students.\n, • Support the development of student's social, emotional, and behavioural skills.\n, • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement individual learning plans.\n, • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents where necessary.\n, • Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.\n, • Promote inclusion, equality, and respect for diversity across the school.\nRequirements:\n\n, • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting.\n, • Experience supporting students with SEND is essential.\n, • A valid Child workforce DBS on the Update Service or have one in progress.\n, • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.\n, • A clear understanding of how to support students with a variety of SEND needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.\n, • A positive and professional attitude towards inclusive education.\n, • An ability to adapt quickly and effectively in a dynamic school environment.\nDesirable:\n\n, • SEND-related qualifications or training (e.g., Level 2 or 3 TA qualification, or similar).\n, • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and how to support students with social and emotional needs.\n\n Why choose Tradewind Recruitment? \n\n • Access to over 2,500 courses through The National College\n, • A daily pay rate of £106.47 - £123.28 per day depending on their scale (SCP 4-7)\n, • An experienced consultant who will give you the support and dedication you need!\n, • Paid weekly through our own PAYE system - no umbrella fees!\n, • £100 referral scheme for everyone you refer to us!\n\n If you are passionate about supporting students with SEND and want to make a real difference in their education, we would love to hear from you. \n Please apply with your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and qualifications. \n Join us in helping every student reach their full potential!
