ph3Mechanical Design Engineer - Space Mechanisms /h3 pOCCAM Space is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys working close to the product and turning complex requirements into reliable, manufacturable space hardware. /p h3Who are we? /h3 pOCCAM Space designs and manufactures separation systems for satellites and launch vehicles. /p pWe operate in a highly technical and industrial environment, with a strong product focus, an international outlook and a firm commitment to innovation, advanced engineering and reliability. /p pOur motto, “Keep It Simple”, reflects the way we work: developing reliable, intelligent and efficient solutions for complex missions. /p pLearn more about us: /p h3What will you do? /h3 ul liTake technical ownership of all aspects of hardware development and execution, from initial concept through manufacturing, integration, testing, launch and, where applicable, orbital operations. /li liDefine and maintain the complete technical roadmap for your hardware throughout its entire lifecycle. /li liDetermine the applicable design loads and develop efficient structural solutions, using first principles to support critical architecture decisions for primary and secondary structures. /li liPerform and document the analyses required to substantiate design decisions, including hand calculations, finite element analysis -FEA- and kinematic analysis. /li liIdentify, specify and select commercial off-the-shelf components that meet the technical and functional requirements of the design. /li liIncorporate manufacturing considerations from the conceptual design phase, evaluating different manufacturing methods such as machining, forming, welding, composites and other alternatives. /li liProactively drive the evolution and technical maturity of the hardware, coordinating with end users, stakeholders and adjacent engineering teams to ensure that every element of the system develops consistently. /li liDocument and communicate design assumptions, constraints, interfaces and requirements, ensuring they are understood and remain valid as the product evolves. /li liCoordinate with the teams responsible for related designs -including adapters, dispensers, release actuators and separation systems and subsystems- to ensure compatibility between components and interfaces. /li liProduce engineering drawings and technical specifications containing all the information required for manufacturing, inspection and integration. /li liPrepare test plans and provide direct technical support during execution to ensure the successful structural qualification and acceptance testing of the hardware. /li liWork with OCCAM Space’s internal manufacturing team and external suppliers to procure materials, manufacture parts and complete assemblies. /li liUpdate designs, drawings, analyses and technical documentation to incorporate changes, test results and continuous improvements. /li /ul h3What are we looking for? /h3 ul liBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. /li liAt least 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design and hardware development. /li liProficiency in CAD software and the ability to learn new tools. Experience with CATIA and SolidWorks will be particularly valued. /li liDemonstrated experience modelling complex geometries using surfacing, lofting and other advanced 3D modelling techniques. /li liExperience across the hardware development lifecycle, including conceptual design, manufacturing, integration and testing. /li liAbility to produce and interpret manufacturing drawings, technical specifications and design documentation. /li liExperience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. /li liAbility to identify and communicate technical challenges, justify design decisions and resolve issues throughout the product development process. /li liProfessional working proficiency in Spanish, both spoken and written, to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in OCCAM Space’s day-to-day environment. /li /ul h3Preferred skills and experience /h3 ul liMaster’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field. /li liAt least 1 year of experience in the mechanical design and analysis of hardware that has been manufactured, tested or flown as part of a space mission. /li liAt least 3 years of experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing -GDT- to designs and manufacturing drawings. /li liAt least 3 years of experience performing and documented Finite Element Analysis -FEA-. /li liAbility to carry out structural and basic thermal analyses to support design decisions. /li liKnowledge of manufacturing processes used for mechanical components, including machining, forming, welding and composite manufacturing. /li liExperience in hardware qualification and acceptance testing. /li liKnowledge of the space industry and its design, manufacturing, traceability and verification requirements. /li liA creative, self-driven and proactive approach, with the autonomy to take ownership of projects and lead them through to completion. /li /ul h3What do we offer? /h3 ul liA gross annual salary of €45,000 to €70,000, depending on experience, technical expertise, level of responsibility and overall fit for the role. /li liDirect involvement in the development of mechanisms and hardware for real space missions. /li liOwnership of the complete product lifecycle, from initial concept through manufacturing, integration and testing. /li liContinuous training and hands-on learning. /li liProfessional development aligned with your skills, experience and interests. /li liFlexible compensation plan, including childcare vouchers, meal and transport cards and private health insurance. /li liFlexible working hours, with arrival between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. and genuine flexibility to organise your working day. /li li22 working days of annual leave. /li li6 additional personal days. /li li24 and 31 December off. /li liYour birthday off. /li /ul h3Export control /h3 pDue to OCCAM Space’s collaboration with U.S. customers, certain activities and technical information may be subject to U.S. export control regulations -including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)- as well as European Union and Spanish legislation, including Regulation (EU) 2021/821, Law 53/2007 and Royal Decree 679/2014.
