Job Description Job Description Job Title: Mortgage Loan Officer Department: Sales- RateCloud Location: Milford, CT Position reports to: Position supervises: FLSA status: X Exempt Non-Exempt TMS Core Values: • Embrace and Drive Change, • Create and Maintain High Morale, Job Fulfillment and Enjoyment, • Be Creative and Open-Minded, • Pursue Growth and Learning in Self and Team, • Build Open and Honest Relationships with Communication General Purpose and Scope (Summary): Originate first and second mortgage loans Responsibilities / Functions: • Originate first and second retail mortgage loans for various investors according to their prescribed guidelines., • Using DU/LP/NAUS and any other automated underwriting engines for pre-approvals., • Initiate and ensure follow-up contact with borrowers/applicants., • Maintain current knowledge of Lender and Investor requirements, • Utilize TMS Lead/Contact management Systems., • Document and maintain system notes/record keeping, • Meet established minimum daily expectations for this position: -Initiate and follow through with daily assigned telephone and internet/email contact with leads, as described in TMS’ monthly expectations -Review and understand daily Investor rate sheets/pricing/adjustments, etc. -Lock loans and email proper channels to advise of lock(s). Personal Traits / Competencies: Strong communication skills with pleasant, upbeat persona Detail oriented Strong customer service, organization, and problem resolution skills Technical / Computer Skills: Thorough k knowledge of Desktop Underwriter, Loan Prospector and other similar systems as well as Microsoft Office. Summary: The mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for the day-to-day underwriting process including rendering credit decisions on incoming applications, underwriting mortgage commitments and verifying supporting documentation. Essential Functions: • Underwrites large or more difficult/complex residential loans, • Ensures compliance with appropriate company and secondary market, investor standards, • Examines loan documentation for accuracy and completeness, • Works with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents, • May provide training and direction to more junior staff, • Have authority to withdraw and decline loans, • Responsibilities include one or several types of mortgage lending (i.e.: conventional, government backed, etc) Additional Responsibilities: • May develop and recommend modifications to underwriting and production procedures, • May respond to individual and investor audits Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Widely recognized as an underwriting expert, • Advanced computer skills, • Builds and manages extensive networks of internal and external relationships, • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, • Understanding of legal, regulatory, economic, competitive and technology environments, which may affect real estate lending programs, • In-depth expertise in multiple underwriting specializations including some FHA or VA experience, • DE and Non-QM experience is a plus, • 5+ years underwriting experience required, • 4 years college degree preferred or equivalent experience, • Spanish speaking a plus Physical Demands: Position requires individual to sit mostly at a desk, answering phone with some bending, reaching, walking, and occasional squatting. There is constant handling, grasping, feeling, hearing, and use of a mouse as a repetitive motion. Maximum requirement to lift is no more than 20 lbs. Hours of Work: NOT a remote position. This role is in office, standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with regular and predictable attendance.
