Job Description Schedule: • Pick your own schedule, • Work during school hours (8:00 am - 3:00 pm, Mon - Fri), • Part-time (10-20 hrs per wk), • School holidays off, • Summer school optional Position Summary: Are you: quirky, energetic, playful, warm, see the glass half full, compassionate, gentle, patient & love little humans? If so, we are looking for your type of person! We also need you to be a Licensed Physical Therapist. If you have a background in ABA, floor time, or psychology, that would be a terrific bonus! Or, if you have a heart for/experience with children/youth who have special needs, are nuero-diverse, twice exceptional, have health anomalies, various disorders, delays, disabilities, or trauma. We support students (3-21 yrs) with IEP’s (individualized educational plans), throughout Pomona, Claremont and West Covina School Districts. Key Responsibilities • Conduct evaluations for IEP’s, to determine students’ current abilities & needs, • Develop measurable goals aligned with students’ IEPs, • Implement developed goals during weekly therapy sessions, • Provide direct physical therapy services (in La Verne clinic/school sites), • Provide monthly consultation to teachers, aides & care givers/families, • Help promote student mobility, positioning & access to curriculum, • Fit, adjust & recommend mobility/adaptive equipment, • Provide training (school staff & caregivers) on equipment, • Maintain accurate treatment schedules (per student) by coordinating with teachers, parents, and transportation/bus staff to ensure therapy sessions are occurring consistently (according to IEPs), • Track & maintain service logs daily, to record when each student was seen (date/duration/type of service), • Document progress, prepare various reports & maintain records (per student), • Be in compliance with IDEA, district guidelines, HIPAA, and FERPA, • Participate in IEP team meetings, present evaluation results, student progress, update goals & share progress reports, • Adapt therapy interventions to the school environment & individual student needs Qualifications • Doctorate or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program, • Current, unrestricted California Physical Therapist License, • Previous experience in pediatrics (school-based or clinic setting), • Experience with children who are neurodiverse, have learning differences, delays, disorders, disabilities, trauma, or health anomalies, • Strong understanding of IDEA & IEP procedures, • Knowledge of best practices in physical therapy, • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, • Positive/cheery attitude, • Hopeful/determined demeanor, • Able to meet each student where he/she is AT, • Ability to see strengths/value in ALL children, of ALL abilities, • Ability to acknowledge/celebrate SMALL victories students make, • Experience with parents who have children with special needs, • Experience with parents who are grieving, • Able to provide parents/families with compassion & professionalism Reports To Lead PT How to Apply • Submit a cover letter/video explaining why you believe this would be a dream job for you?, • Provide a relevant resume, • Forward copy of your California PT license & degree/s, • Forward 3 references (full name, phone & email), of people who can vouch for your character and interaction style with children of varying abilities.
