Job Description Job Title: Test Engineer Job Description This Test Engineer role focuses on planning, executing, and documenting electrical and EMI/EMC tests for aerospace and related applications. You will develop detailed test plans and procedures, coordinate and run tests at local laboratories, and ensure compliance with standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461. The position offers the opportunity to work in an engineering-oriented, employee-owned company that designs and manufactures high-quality ice protection and temperature control systems for aerospace, industrial, and transit markets. Responsibilities • Create comprehensive test plans, test procedures, and test reports for electrical and EMI/EMC testing activities., • Schedule tests with local test laboratories and coordinate all logistical details to ensure timely completion., • Run tests at local labs, operate test equipment, and ensure that all tests follow defined procedures and applicable standards., • Perform troubleshooting and testing to DO-160, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461 requirements for aerospace and military systems., • Conduct EMI/EMC testing, including test setup, execution, monitoring, and documentation of results., • Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, function generators, and other test equipment to verify and validate system performance., • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to support test development, execution, and troubleshooting., • Develop and refine test methods and test setups to improve accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency of testing., • Accurately and clearly fill out data sheets, record test measurements, and maintain detailed test logs., • Write up non-conformance reports, document test failures, and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions., • Document test results in formal reports and communicate findings to engineering and project teams., • Collaborate with electrical engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure test coverage meets design and regulatory requirements., • Ensure all testing activities comply with internal procedures, customer specifications, and applicable aerospace and military standards. Essential Skills • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)., • At least 3 years of experience working as a Test Engineer in an aerospace company or in the military (full time or reservist)., • Hands-on experience creating test plans, test procedures, and test reports., • Proven experience scheduling and running tests at external or local test laboratories., • Strong background in EMI/EMC testing, including practical experience with EMI/EMC test setups and execution., • Experience troubleshooting and testing to DO-160, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461 standards., • Proficiency using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and function generators., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, electrical circuits, and blueprints., • Demonstrated electrical technician and test engineering skills, including hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems., • Ability to accurately and clearly fill out data sheets and maintain detailed test documentation., • Capability to write clear non-conformance reports for internal records., • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to document results thoroughly and consistently., • Effective communication skills to interact with engineers, technicians, and external lab personnel. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainview, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $43.00/hr.
