Job Description Job Title: Quality Control Chemist Job Description The Quality Control Chemist will initially be responsible for conducting physical property testing and wet chemistry testing, such as viscosity, pH, and TOC for water testing. The role will expand to encompass all analytical testing, including HPLC, GC, and more. The individual will prioritize daily sample testing and perform various laboratory tests on bulk formula batches and line samples of raw materials and in-process materials. Additionally, they will review compounding and laboratory records for accuracy and completeness, investigate customer complaints and OOS/OOT results, and implement corrective actions as determined by QC supervision. Responsibilities • Perform laboratory analysis on incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products according to established procedures, including wet chemistry, GC, and HPLC., • Prepare samples for chromatographic analysis and prepare standard and reagent solutions., • Coordinate information flow within the laboratory and to internal customers., • Access, input, and retrieve information from the LIMS., • Dispose of raw materials, process samples, and finished products for use or sale., • Ensure all laboratory documentation meets standards for completeness and accuracy according to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and GMP., • Handle laboratory clean-up and housekeeping duties, including waste disposal and glassware washing., • Document deviations in performance not anticipated or indicated in test procedures., • Become proficient in performing routine GC and HPLC analysis, including integration and result calculations., • Assist with OOS/OOT and customer complaint investigations., • Assist with method development protocols and conduct requisite testing., • Assist with IQ/OQ/PQ and instrument validation/calibration tasks., • Assist with method transfer protocols and requisite testing., • Assist with annual/new supplier validations protocol, sample transfer, and testing process., • Assist with SOP creation, review, and revision activities., • Assist with stability protocol and testing processes., • Assist with supplies/services ordering process., • Assist with contract manufacturing protocol and workflow., • Assist with instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Essential Skills • Strong multi-tasking ability and capability to prioritize or re-prioritize based on changing needs., • Effective communication skills with compounding (manufacturing) leadership., • Confidence to work independently without constant supervision., • Willingness to learn and adapt., • Ability to work in a high throughput environment within a team dynamic., • Proficiency in performing repetitive testing quickly and accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree minimum required, Chemistry preferred but open to Biochemistry, Biology with a Chemistry Minor, or other related science., • Strong preference for 1 year of experience in a QC laboratory with exposure to physical testing, volumetric solution sample preparation, GMP/GDP, and LIMS or other lab sample management systems., • Entry-level candidates with strong demonstrated chemistry skills will be considered., • General experience working within MS Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc. Work Environment The position is for the third shift, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Initial training will be on the first shift, Monday to Friday, for approximately 2-4 weeks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
