Job Description Field Service Technician Job Description This hands-on On-Site Field Service Technician role supports semiconductor manufacturing facilities and other industrial customer environments in Malta, NY. The position combines troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and technical support with field measurements and detailed project documentation. You will work directly with customers, solve technical problems, and support advanced industrial heating and process systems while collaborating with engineering and project teams. The role offers strong technical growth potential, high autonomy, and primarily local work with less than 10% travel. Responsibilities • Perform on-site troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of industrial heating and process systems in semiconductor manufacturing and other industrial environments., • Install, commission, and start up equipment, ensuring proper configuration, calibration, and performance according to specifications and schematics., • Conduct preventive maintenance on systems and components to maximize reliability, uptime, and safety., • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to support installation, troubleshooting, and repair activities., • Use hand tools and test equipment to perform field measurements, adjustments, and repairs on electrical heating systems, temperature controllers, and related process equipment., • Provide customer-facing technical support, clearly communicate findings and recommendations, and build strong working relationships with on-site personnel., • Create and maintain accurate technical drawings, field sketches, service reports, and project documentation following company and customer standards., • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to relay field observations, support system improvements, and assist with implementation of technical solutions., • Adhere to strict safety protocols and cleanroom procedures, including proper use of PPE and compliance with facility-specific requirements., • Continuously learn and adopt new technologies, software tools, and industry-specific applications relevant to semiconductor manufacturing and industrial process systems. Essential Skills • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on industrial heating and process systems., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings., • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and basic test equipment for installation, maintenance, and repair work., • Strong understanding of electrical concepts, including low-voltage controls, electrical panels, and single-phase electrical systems., • Effective verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction and documentation., • Capability to work independently in the field while managing time and tasks with a high degree of autonomy., • High school diploma., • Two or more years of field service, maintenance, installation, or related technical experience preferred., • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environments is highly desirable., • Background in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, construction trades, agriculture, or other hands-on technical environments preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Associate degree in a science, engineering, construction, or related technical field preferred., • Experience with electrical heating systems, temperature controllers, or process heating equipment is a plus., • Familiarity with low-voltage controls, electrical panels, and single-phase electrical systems., • Experience creating technical drawings, field sketches, or project documentation is beneficial., • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, software tools, and industry-specific applications., • Comfort working in cleanroom and industrial environments and following detailed procedures. Work Environment This position is primarily based at a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Malta, NY, with less than 10% travel. Technicians work in a mix of cleanroom and industrial environments, following strict safety protocols and facility procedures. The role involves regular use of hand tools, test equipment, and interaction with advanced industrial heating and process systems. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleanroom attire are required as specified by the facility, and adherence to all safety and operational guidelines is essential. The environment offers close collaboration with engineering and project teams, direct customer interaction, and a technically challenging setting focused on advanced semiconductor manufacturing operations. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Malta, New York. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
