Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Insulator Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing insulation systems on a variety of mechanical and HVAC components. You will work with multiple insulation materials and protective jacketing types, interpret technical drawings, and ensure all work meets project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The position involves both new installations and modifications to existing systems in a field-based construction and industrial environment. Responsibilities • Install insulation on piping systems, ductwork, tanks, vessels, boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems in accordance with project specifications., • Measure, cut, fit, and secure insulation materials such as fiberglass, mineral wool, foam, and other specialty products to various mechanical surfaces., • Install protective jacketing including aluminum, stainless steel, PVC, and other metal coverings to protect and finish insulated systems., • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and insulation drawings to plan and execute work accurately., • Fabricate and install custom insulation and metal jacketing components as needed to meet unique project requirements., • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements at all times., • Perform repairs, maintenance, and replacement of existing insulation systems to restore performance and efficiency., • Safely operate hand and power tools, lifts, scaffolding, and other jobsite equipment required to complete insulation work., • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the jobsite., • Complete required documentation, inspections, and daily reports accurately and on time., • Collaborate effectively with project managers, foremen, contractors, and fellow tradespeople to coordinate work and meet project schedules. Essential Skills • Hands-on experience with mechanical insulation installation, including piping, ductwork, and HVAC systems., • Proficiency working with insulation materials such as fiberglass, mineral wool, foam, and other specialty products., • Ability to install protective jacketing including aluminum, stainless steel, PVC, and other metal coverings., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and insulation drawings., • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic math calculations for measuring, cutting, and fitting materials., • Capability to safely operate hand and power tools, lifts, and scaffolding., • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding at various heights., • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to job sites., • Willingness and ability to travel and work overtime as project schedules require., • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety procedures., • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work for extended periods., • Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with supervisors, contractors, and other trades. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous mechanical insulation experience is preferred and considered a strong asset., • Experience working with duct work, sheet metal, HVAC systems, and piping., • Experience in fabrication of custom insulation and metal jacketing components., • Familiarity with documenting work through inspections, daily reports, and project records., • Comfort working in construction or industrial environments with varying site conditions. You can expect physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50+ pounds, standing, bending, and working in different weather and site conditions. Work hours may vary by project and can include overtime and travel to multiple job sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
