Job DescriptionSalary: HVAC Test Technician II Mestex is seeking an experienced HVAC Test Technician II to join our Manufacturing team. In this critical role, you'll perform functional testing, troubleshooting, balancing, and quality validation on custom-engineered HVAC equipment before it ships to customers across North America.If you enjoy diagnosing complex electrical and mechanical systems, solving technical challenges, and ensuring products meet the highest quality standards, we'd like to meet you. What You'll DoAs an HVAC Test Technician II, you'll independently test, troubleshoot, and validate sophisticated HVAC systems while partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure every unit performs as designed.Primary Responsibilities • Perform functional testing and performance validation of custom HVAC equipment, including indirect-fired, direct-fired, air turnover, mixed-air, and evaporative cooling systems., • Conduct vibration analysis and balance blower wheels, fan assemblies, and exhaust systems to ensure optimal performance., • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, controls, airflow, hydronic, and gas-fired systems using systematic diagnostic methods., • Verify proper operation of motors, VFDs, burners, gas trains, sensors, actuators, relays, safety devices, and control systems., • Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, piping diagrams, and technical documentation., • Utilize electrical testing instruments and calibrated equipment to validate system performance., • Identify design, workmanship, component, and manufacturing issues while collaborating with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to drive corrective actions., • Support production activities and equipment validation as needed.Quality & Documentation, • Complete test reports, inspection records, startup documentation, NCRs, and production documentation accurately., • Verify products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards., • Maintain detailed troubleshooting records and corrective action documentation., • Ensure testing equipment remains calibrated and ready for use., • Participate in root cause investigations and recommend product and process improvements., • Identify recurring issues that improve product reliability and manufacturability.Safety & Equipment Care, • Follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and company safety policies., • Safely operate overhead cranes, testing equipment, and powered industrial equipment., • Inspect and maintain testing equipment, fixtures, and diagnostic tools., • Wear required PPE and proactively identify workplace hazards., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area., • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Teamwork & Continuous Improvement, • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to improve product quality and efficiency., • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Gemba, and continuous improvement initiatives., • Provide feedback on product design, manufacturability, and testability., • Mentor and train HVAC Test Technician I employees and production team members., • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and ownership in achieving departmental goals. QualificationsRequired • High School Diploma or GED required., • Technical school, military technical training, or Associate's degree preferred., • 37 years of experience in industrial HVAC, manufacturing, electrical controls, equipment service, maintenance, or troubleshooting., • Strong troubleshooting experience involving:, • Electrical systems, • Mechanical systems, • HVAC controls, • Airflow systems, • Gas-fired equipment, • Hydronic systems, • Experience with:, • Motors, • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), • Sensors, • Actuators, • Relays, • Safety circuits, • Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation., • Experience using electrical diagnostic and testing equipment., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications • Industrial Electrical Certification or Technical Training, • HVAC Controls experience, • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training, • Lean Manufacturing or 5S experience, • Experience testing:, • Custom Air Handling Units (AHUs), • Direct-Fired HVAC Equipment, • Indirect-Fired HVAC Systems, • Evaporative Cooling Systems, • Experience in Engineer-to-Order (ETO), OEM manufacturing, or custom HVAC equipment production.
