Job Description Job Title: Welder Job Description This role focuses on performing high-quality MIG welding in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will interpret blueprints and welding symbols, set up welding equipment, and produce structural and production weldments that meet strict quality and safety standards. The position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of steel and equipment assemblies while contributing to an organized and growing operation. Responsibilities • Perform MIG welding on steel components, structural parts, and equipment assemblies according to production requirements., • Set up and assemble weldments based on blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings., • Configure welding machines and adjust welding parameters to achieve proper penetration, bead appearance, and weld integrity., • Conduct in-process inspections to verify weld quality and ensure parts meet specified tolerances., • Measure and inspect finished parts to maintain dimensional accuracy and adherence to quality standards., • Maintain production efficiency by meeting output targets while upholding quality and safety expectations., • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area., • Identify and communicate equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or production issues to supervision in a timely manner., • Collaborate with other departments, such as fabrication, assembly, and quality control, to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery., • Support continuous improvement by following standard work practices and suggesting process or quality improvements when appropriate. Essential Skills • Minimum 1 year of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings., • Hands-on experience setting up welding machines and adjusting welding parameters for different applications., • Strong quality inspection skills, including the ability to measure parts and maintain tight tolerances., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Experience performing production welding and assembly welding in a shop or manufacturing setting., • Ability to perform structural welding on steel components and fabricated structures., • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining consistent weld quality., • Basic understanding of steel fabrication processes and shop welding practices., • Ability to follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • AWS D1.1 certification preferred, or the ability to obtain company welding certifications., • Aluminum welding experience is a plus., • Stainless steel welding experience is a plus., • Experience with TIG and flux core welding is beneficial., • Experience as a MIG welder, production welder, manufacturing welder, fabricator/welder, structural welder, or shop welder., • Strong blueprint reading skills and familiarity with welding symbols and weld inspection standards., • Experience working in steel fabrication environments with a focus on structural and production work. Work Environment The role is based in a large, well-organized shop environment that includes a warehouse, machine operating room (with press brake, laser, and related equipment), dedicated welding area, dump truck and loader department, patcher department, CalTrans-focused department, final assembly area, and quality control department. The facility is clean and structured for the size and volume of the operation, with a Fastenal supplier on site to support tooling and supplies. The shop can be hot during the summer and cold during the winter, and the pace of work is consistent with a busy production environment. Appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and comfort in the welding and fabrication areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fresno, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
