Maintenance Engineer \n\n • Location: St. Albans, Hatfield\n, • Double day - 6-2, 2-10\n, • Salary: £35,000 - £40,000\n\n We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to play a key role in supporting day-to-day engineering operations across packaging and manufacturing lines. This hands-on position focuses on technical problem-solving, operational support, and equipment maintenance, ensuring all activities comply with GMP, Health & Safety, and regulatory standards. \n Day-to-day of the role: \n\n • Maintain all plant, machinery, and equipment, ensuring compliance with GMP, Health & Safety, and regulatory standards.\n, • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance to support production.\n, • Diagnose and resolve equipment faults to minimise downtime.\n, • Provide hands-on engineering support across all site equipment.\n, • Identify and implement improvements to enhance reliability and performance.\n, • Collaborate with engineering colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external contractors on maintenance and upgrade activities.\n, • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, and compliance documentation.\n, • Adhere to all company procedures and SOPs, supporting site quality and safety standards through best engineering practices.\n, • Participate in CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Actions) activities.\n, • Provide guidance and basic training to operators on equipment use.\n, • Support contractor activities, including installations and repairs.\n, • Ensure full compliance and adherence with all company policies, procedures, guidelines, and SOPs.\n, • Undertake other duties as required, commensurate with the level and responsibilities of the role.\n\n Required Skills & Qualifications: \n\n • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering.\n, • Experience in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment (FMCG, pharmaceutical, or similar).\n, • Strong practical experience in mechanical and electrical fault finding.\n, • Good understanding of preventative maintenance and reliability practices.\n, • Experience working with contractors and external service providers.\n, • Familiarity with basic electrical systems and instrumentation.\n, • Exposure to TPM, root cause analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies.\n, • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.\n, • Working knowledge of GMP or regulated environments.\n, • Experience using PLC machine interfaces.\n, • Strong communication and teamwork skills.\n, • High attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping.\n, • Flexible approach to shift work and emergency callouts.\n, • Familiarity with packaging and manufacturing machinery.\n\n Benefits: \n\n • Competitive salary.\n, • Opportunities for professional development and training.\n, • Inclusive and supportive work environment.\n\n To apply for the Maintenance Engineer position, please submit your CV detailing your relevant experience and why you are interested in this role.
