The Role We are looking for a talented and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of our kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about fresh food, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and is ready to take on greater responsibility within a growing business. The successful candidate will help lead the kitchen team, maintain consistently high food standards, and contribute to the development of seasonal menus while ensuring food safety and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Support the Head Chef in the daily management of the kitchen. Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a consistently high standard. Supervise, motivate, and train junior chefs and kitchen staff. Assist with menu planning and the development of seasonal specials. Maintain excellent food quality, consistency, and presentation. Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP procedures. Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise food waste. Help manage food costs and maintain agreed gross profit margins. Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organised, and fully compliant with all regulations. Take responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence. Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Skills & Experience Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie ready to step up. Strong knowledge of fresh food preparation and modern British cuisine. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Ability to lead and develop a kitchen team. Calm under pressure with a positive, can-do attitude. Good understanding of food safety legislation and HACCP. Experience managing stock, ordering, and controlling food costs. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
