Position: Project System Engineer at Airbus CRISA (Airbus Defence & Space) in Tres Cantos, Madrid. The role supports the Space business including Launchers, Earth Exploration (Copernicus), Space Exploration (Artemis), and Commercial Satellites. The Project System Engineer will design and develop electronic units for flight equipment, ensuring delivery within schedule, cost, and quality constraints. • Lead technical discussions with the customer from the Negotiation Phase through in-flight operations., • Assist the Project Manager in requirement assessment and risk identification., • Define the architecture of the electronic unit based on project requirements in close co‑engineering with stakeholders (FPGA, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Materials & Processes, EEE, Radiation)., • Perform the flow‑down of project requirements to each module or function, maintaining uniform design rules., • Collaborate with the Validation Manager to optimise both the flight unit and ground equipment designs following a Design for Testing philosophy., • Participate in characterization and acceptance tests at module and unit levels., • Work with the Industrialisation Team to agree on design for manufacturing rules and deliver on time., • Lead resolution of technical issues in collaboration with experts, under quality and programme rules., • Document and report design artefacts (Design Description, WCS Summary, FMEA, Part Stress Analysis, Reliability Analysis) for project milestones (Requirement Review, Preliminary and Architecture Review, Critical Design Review)., • Monitor deviations, evolutions or discrepancies during the recurrent phase of the project., • Chair design reviews of the electronic unit functions., • Maintain a customer‑oriented relationship and provide proactive support to build trust., • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering or science., • Minimum five years of experience in electronic unit development., • Experience in the space sector is highly recommended., • Negotiation‑level proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)., • Technical excellence and a spirit for technical challenges., • Excellent communication and reporting skills, both internal and external., • Strong teamwork and cooperation to motivate the project team., • Capability to propose practical, innovative and efficient solutions., • Independent and autonomous working style., • Experience in Power, Analog or Digital design., • Knowledge of space‑environment constraints and European space regulations (ESCC, SMD, etc)., • Digital mindset: automation of tasks, scripting, use of digital design tools and simulators., • Familiarity with Agile methodologies., • Knowledge of space application design methodologies and tools (Mentor, LTspice, Matlab, SIMetrix‑SIMPLIS) considered a plus., • Willingness to learn and teach others.
