Our values of excellence through collegiality and engaging leadership have allowed us to attract the finest talent with diverse skills and backgrounds and access to rewarding and fulfilling career pathways. /p h3About the role /h3 pWe have an exciting opportunity for a person with a background in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Aerospace/Mining/Manufacturing engineering or Physics – or similar – to join our dynamic Mechanical Engineering team as a Trainee Patent Attorney, on a full‑time basis in our Melbourne office. /p pYour day‑to‑day work will involve all aspects of private patent attorney practice under the supervision of qualified patent attorneys. This can include: /p ul liMeeting with inventors to determine the nature of proposed inventions and to form a view as to their patentability. /li liInterpreting technical results of the searches and advising clients. /li liCorresponding with local clients, individual inventors, overseas patent attorney firms and overseas corporate clients in respect of a wide range of intellectual property matters including: /li liAdvising on patentability of inventions. /li liAdvising on matters of patent law, including novelty and inventiveness requirements. /li liPreparing responses to Examination Reports. /li liPreparing patent specifications for client inventions, and discussing same with clients, drawing on your expertise in the field of the invention. /li liInfringement and validity analysis. /li /ul h3About You /h3 ul liA Bachelor degree or PhD with a focus in Mechanical engineering, Mechatronics engineering, Aerospace engineering, Mining engineering, Manufacturing engineering and/or Physics (or similar) is essential. Competency in mechatronics, aeronautics, mining, manufacturing, construction and/or biomedical engineering would be an advantage. /li liPost doctoral and/or industry experience would be valued. /li liAn excellent command of the English language and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate in writing and verbally. /li liAble to assimilate, critically analyse complex information and think laterally. /li liWell organised and self‑motivated. /li liThe ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. /li liA willingness to undertake business development activities, including networking with clients and prospective clients. /li liPrepared to undertake further (part‑time) studies to qualify as an Australian Patent Attorney. /li liHave permanent unrestricted work rights. /li /ul h3Why join us? /h3 pThis is an exciting and dynamic role within a very supportive and inclusive team working with an internationally recognised firm while developing your career. /p pThe benefits of working with DCC extend well beyond professional experience.
