It collaborates on diverse research projects in particle physics, astrophysics, biology, materials science, and more, and focuses on accelerating research through Machine Learning, High‑Throughput Computing and Big Data techniques. /ph3Position /h3pPIC is looking for a highly motivated systems administrator with strong Linux and network administration skills, who is interested in supporting scientific research. The successful candidate will join the Operations team of the PIC data centre and work closely with scientists to develop, deploy and operate computing platforms that enable research data analysis. /ph3Job Description /h3ulliLinux system administration. /liliManaging distributed storage platforms and networks. /liliInstallation and configuration of IT services using automation tools such as Puppet. /liliMonitoring and capacity planning of IT services. /liliDevelopment and maintenance of technical documentation of services. /liliTechnical procedures documentation for operators and developers. /li /ulh3Qualifications /h3ulliDegree in computer science, telecommunications, or a related technical discipline. /liliExperience in Linux system administration. /liliExperience in scripting languages such as Python or Bash. /liliStrong communication and collaboration skills, fostering a positive working environment with team members, researchers and supervisors. /liliProactive approach with the ability to adapt and enhance IT services to meet user needs. /liliCompetence in spoken and written English. /li /ulh3Preferred Experience /h3ulliExperience in computer systems administration using IT automation tools such as Puppet. /liliWorking experience with research users and international research projects. /liliKnowledge of tape library systems. /li /ulh3Contract and Benefits /h3pFull‑time (40 h/week) with teleworking opportunities and a flexible schedule. One position. The contract is an “actividades científico‑técnicas” (article 23‑bis, Spanish Act 14/2011) under the project “Advanced technologies for the exploration of the Universe and its components.” It is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU (MICINN/PRTR funds) and the Generalitat de Catalunya. There is a 3‑month trial period. The position corresponds to “Enginyer” within IFAE professional categories. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
