About Pangea PropulsionWe are a company dedicated to developing advanced propulsion systems for the space industry based on three key principles: high efficiency, sustainability, and reusability. We are revolutionizing the space industry with ground-breaking innovations that allow us to offer the best performance to cost propulsion systems. Our goal is to be the propulsion provider for the next generation of spacecraft, which is essential to meet demands and compete in the booming space market of the next decade. We are a passionate, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space propulsion technology. We have already made history by successfully testing the world's first 3D‑printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a significant milestone for the space industry. We are looking for talented professionals to join our international teams in Barcelona and Toulouse. We want to be a key player in improving diversity in the Aerospace sector as, in Pangea, we believe that diversity (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, culture, etc.) is a key to success. Within Pangea, everyone can grow with the same opportunities. We encourage you to apply. Individually we are different, but together we are an amazing team!About the RoleAs lead systems engineer you will work together with the rest of the Systems Department at Pangea Propulsion to coordinate the systems engineering efforts of a particular propulsion system in development, focusing on ensuring that the resulting system design and its operations are compliant with the customers’ requirements and that the design is complete, functional end-to-end, coherent, performant, and properly documented. You would be the direct support of the Product Owner and the main information hub and central elaborator in regard to the system design. Together with the rest of the Systems Department and the Product Owner you would track and manage the system configuration evolution, make top-level decisions in regard to preferred system solutions, perform trade-offs between possible design options, set design constraints based on circumstances and experience, define the engine’s concept of operations, structure and define the engine’s requirements (including e.G. RAMS, Operational Requirements, Environmental Requirements, Interfaces, etc.) and ensure compliance to said requirements, define the engine’s functional tree and product tree, structure the engine project’s activity matrix, define and analyze applicable sizing cases, etc. As lead systems engineer your work will naturally be very broad, touching on many different topics and disciplines including system architecture, operations, logistics, reliability and safety, etc. You will work closely together with your colleagues in the Systems Department and also with the Product Owner, as well as with the Fluidics and Mechanical Departments. In general, you would be expected to work with all departments and disciplines within Pangea at some point, to maintain a holistic view of the entire system.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and manage overall system architecture, logic, and functional coherence.Define, manage, and validate system requirements, interfaces, and CONOPS.Lead system-level trade-offs, constraints, and design decisions.Maintain configuration, system budgets (mass, power, etc.), and margin policies.Ensure integration and interface consistency across subsystems.Develop and maintain MBSE models, functional trees, and product structure.Ensure RAMS integration, ECSS compliance, and verification traceability.Define V&V, AIT, and systems engineering plans.Oversee system documentation (SRD, DDF, DJF, user manual).Manage technical risks and support design reviews.Support the coordination and preparation of design reviews and participate in said reviews as a lead figure together with the Product Owner.Collaborate across all engineering teams and support the Product Owner.Balance visionary system design with practical program execution, ensuring that reliability, performance, and sustainability goals are met. What You Need to Be SuccessfulMaster’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field3 years or more experience of systems engineering for aerospace vehicles or rocket propulsion, or a related fieldExperience in the implementation of ECSS standards or other relevant standardsWell‑rounded understanding of the relevant disciplines in the field of rocket propulsionExperience working as a leading role in large teams or complex projectsStrong ownership, initiative, and ability to work under pressureFluent in EnglishOther Useful SkillsIn-depth and hands‑on knowledge of space system architectures, subsystems, and operational environments, especially for rocket engines or launch vehicle hardware.Equal Opportunity EmployerPangea Propulsion is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
