This person will build scalable accounting processes, improve financial visibility, strengthen controls, and prepare the company for continued growth. You will oversee everything from month-end close and reporting to inventory, revenue recognition, and financial systems optimization. This role is ideal for someone coming from a high-growth consumer, ecommerce, CPG, or retail environment who enjoys moving between strategy and execution. Key Responsibilities Build & Scale the Accounting Function Develop and implement scalable accounting processes, policies, and internal controls to support rapid growth Establish a best-in-class month-end close process, improving accuracy and reporting timelines Build the foundation for a growing finance organization, including hiring and developing future team members Evaluate and implement improvements across accounting systems, workflows, and automation Financial Reporting & Business Partnership Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, providing accurate insights to leadership Partner with the CEO and executive team on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and strategic decision-making Develop dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility into business performance Translate financial results into actionable insights for a fast-growing consumer brand DTC, Retail & Inventory Accounting Oversee accounting across ecommerce, marketplace, and retail channels Manage revenue recognition across DTC and wholesale customers Own inventory accounting, including landed costs, COGS, purchase accounting, and inventory reconciliation Partner with operations, supply chain, and vendors to improve forecasting and working capital management Support retail expansion with scalable processes for new customers and distribution partners Systems & Process Optimization Lead improvements to ERP, ecommerce, and financial technology systems Ensure accurate integrations between platforms such as ERP, Shopify, Amazon, inventory management systems, and third-party logistics providers Build automation and reporting processes to reduce manual work and improve scalability Compliance & Controls Manage tax compliance, audits, and financial controls Establish processes to support future fundraising, due diligence, and potential exit readiness Ensure financial operations remain compliant as the company grows Qualifications 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader Experience in a high-growth DTC, ecommerce, CPG, retail, or consumer products environment Proven track record building accounting infrastructure and processes from the ground up Strong understanding of inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and cost accounting Experience implementing or optimizing ERP/accounting systems Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn financial data into business insights Hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally Preferred Experience Experience scaling a consumer brand from early growth stages into a larger organization Background supporting retail expansion through channels such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, Sprouts, or specialty retailers Experience with Shopify, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or other modern finance technology stacks Experience preparing companies for fundraising, rapid growth, or strategic transactions Interested in hearing more?
