Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring part-time Scoopers to join our Georgetown ice cream shop in Washington, DC. Our Scoopers are the ultimate Van Leeuwen ambassadors, bringing our high standards and hospitality to life in every guest interaction. We're looking for self-starters who thrive independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. The ideal candidate brings positive energy, strong people skills and a genuine passion for ice cream! Part Time Scoopers at Van Leeuwen's scoop shops make $18.40 per hour + an average of an additional $9 per hour in tips! Tips are based on averages and subject to seasonal fluctuation.Our team members must have availability to work at least three shifts per week and be available to work past 12am. Job duties include but are not limited to: • Effectively communicate customer needs to line cooks and/or servers, • Expedite food and insure quality and standards are met in presentation of each food item, • Carry food, dishes, trays, or silverware from expo line to customers, • Serve food to customers and assist servers as needed, • Locate items requested by customers, • Clean up spilled food or drink or broken dishes and remove empty bottles and trash, • Perform serving, cleaning, or stocking duties in establishments, to facilitate customer service, • Maintain adequate supplies of items such silverware, carry out containers, carry out bags, etc, • Stock cabinets or serving areas with condiments and refill condiment containers, • Clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in food service areas or other areas of restaurants and mop or vacuum floors, • Serve ice water, coffee, or other beverages to patrons, • Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications: • Top tier communication and hospitality, • Must have weekend availability and work a minimum of 3 shifts per week, • Must be able to work with a team, • Fluent (or semi-fluent) in Spanish is a plus! Job duties include but are not limited to: • Guiding guests through menus while demonstrating a thorough knowledge of our items, • Taking accurate orders and working with other tribe members to serve food and beverages that exceed guest expectations, • Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages., • Provide excellent customer service with a smile! This includes 90 second greeting times, 3 minute-3 bite check in and closing down service by collecting payment and making it an experience that keeps guests coming back., • Assist in tasks to ensure a clean, sanitized, and safe restaurant including: bussing tables, rolling silverware, wiping down common surfaces, stocking service areas, mopping, restocking items, etc., • Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests, when needed. Qualifications: • Must be at least 18 years of age in order to handle alcohol, • Must have weekend availability and work a minimum of 3 shifts per week, • Must love talking to people!
