Job Description About Venchi Since 1878, Venchi has celebrated chocolate in all its forms — from the authentic taste of our cocoa origins to the art of gelato. Today, we bring Italian excellence, quality, and positive indulgence to customers around the world through a growing network of stores and channels. Our values — Taste, Truth, Ingenuity, and Togetherness — guide how we work, grow, and create experiences for our customers and teams. About the Role We are seeking a Director of FP&A based in our New York City headquarters. Reporting directly to the CEO and functionally to the Global CFO, this role will serve as the primary financial business partner to the CEO and local leadership team. This is not a traditional accounting-focused finance role. The Director will lead planning, forecasting, performance management, and commercial analysis, with a strong focus on actively managing the P&L together with the CEO and business leaders. The ideal candidate is naturally curious and intellectually honest, consistently seeking to understand the drivers behind business performance. They are comfortable asking difficult questions, constructively challenging assumptions at all levels of the organization, and using data to influence decisions rather than simply reporting results. The role will manage a U.S.-based finance team while partnering closely with the accounting team in Italy to ensure alignment between financial reporting, planning, and business decision-making. Key Responsibilities FP&A, Forecasting & P&L Management Own the annual budget, rolling forecast, long-range plan, and related planning processes for Venchi USA. Actively manage the P&L with the CEO and business leaders, identifying performance gaps, opportunities, and corrective actions. Develop driver-based models, scenario analyses, and business cases to support decisions on growth, profitability, investments, labor, pricing, promotions, and cost management. Monitor performance versus plan and provide clear, actionable variance analysis. Strategic Business Partnership Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team, translating financial data into clear business insights and recommendations. Partner with Retail, E-commerce, Marketing, Supply Chain, Real Estate, HR, and Operations to improve financial performance and decision-making. Constructively challenge leaders — including the CEO — on cost assumptions, business cases, investment requests, and operational plans. Lead monthly business reviews focused on drivers, risks, opportunities, and accountability. Commercial & Operational Finance Analyze profitability by store, channel, product category, and customer segment. Evaluate key business drivers including sales, traffic, conversion, labor productivity, occupancy costs, inventory productivity, gross margin, and marketing effectiveness. Proactively identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce waste, optimize investments, and support scalable growth. Support store openings, remodels, relocations, new markets, and other strategic initiatives through financial analysis and recommendations. Finance Operations, Local Compliance & Vendor Management Maintain a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and trial balance analysis to ensure planning assumptions are grounded in reported results. Partner closely with the accounting team in Italy to align actuals, forecasts, reporting, compliance, and business needs. Own local U.S. finance compliance coordination, including sales tax, business licenses, local filings, audit support, internal controls, and related documentation, partnering with external advisors as needed. Manage key local finance and risk vendors, including the CPA/tax advisor, insurance broker and providers, banks, payroll/benefits finance contacts, and other relevant professional service providers. Ensure appropriate insurance coverage, cost discipline, timely renewals, and effective claims administration. Support cash flow planning, working capital monitoring, and other finance operations required to run the U.S. business effectively. Team Leadership Lead and develop the U.S.-based finance team. Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, continuous improvement, and constructive challenge. Build finance into a proactive, value-adding partner across the organization. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field. 8–12 years of progressive experience in FP&A, commercial finance, business control, or finance business partnering roles. Strong experience in retail, consumer goods, hospitality, food & beverage, luxury, or another multi-unit business environment. Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and analytical capabilities. Proven ability to influence senior leaders through fact-based insights, clear recommendations, and confident communication. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, including the ability to read a trial balance and understand how operational decisions flow through the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow. Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in identifying opportunities across cost lines, revenue drivers, margin performance, and operating efficiency. Comfort constructively challenging assumptions and decisions across all levels of the organization. Experience working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial, and international environment preferred. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus; MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or similar credential is a plus; Italian language skills are preferred. Success in This Role The successful candidate will be more than a finance reporter: they will be a business driver who helps Venchi US make better, faster, and more financially disciplined decisions. They will combine analytical depth, commercial instinct, and constructive challenge to improve profitability, sharpen resource allocation, and support sustainable growth. Pay range and compensation: This role offers a base salary of $150,000 to $175,000, plus a bonus tied to the achievement of key company objectives.
