Job DescriptionJob Title: Drill Press OperatorJob Description The Drill Press Operator runs a variety of metal forming machines and equipment to layout and fabricate plate steel, sheet metal, and structural steel components. This role requires precise measurement, blueprint interpretation, safe material handling, and the ability to perform basic math while working in a typical manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Operate metal forming machines including press brakes, rolls, drill presses, radial arm drill presses, shears, and metal saws to produce steel and sheet metal components., • Set up and run drill presses and radial arm drill presses, ensuring accurate drilling operations according to specifications., • Use and operate a plasma cutter to cut metal materials to required dimensions and shapes., • Read and interpret blueprints to understand job requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication details., • Perform basic math calculations to verify measurements, material usage, and part dimensions., • Layout and fabricate plate steel, sheet metal, and structural steel according to engineering and production requirements., • Use measuring equipment such as rulers, micrometers, and angle finders to verify accuracy and quality of parts., • Apply strong organizational skills to manage machine programs, tools, materials, and work sequences efficiently., • Handle the setup and storage of press brake programs to support repeatable and efficient production runs., • Operate overhead cranes safely and correctly to move and position heavy materials and finished parts., • Lift and move materials and components, including items in excess of 75 lbs, following proper safety and ergonomic practices., • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly and safely., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines related to machine operation, material handling, and personal protective equipment., • Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, making adjustments to machines or processes as needed., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality standards.Essential Skills, • Proven ability to operate metal forming machines including press brakes, rolls, drill presses, radial arm drill presses, shears, and metal saws., • Ability to operate a plasma cutter safely and effectively., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, tools, and machine programs., • Proficiency in reading and using measuring equipment such as rulers, micrometers, and angle finders., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings., • Competence in performing basic math calculations related to measurements and fabrication., • Experience in layout and fabrication of plate steel, sheet metal, and structural steel., • Demonstrated experience with the proper and safe use of overhead cranes., • Capability to perform heavy lifting, including items in excess of 75 lbs., • Attention to detail and commitment to quality in metal fabrication work., • Strong adherence to safety practices in a manufacturing environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior experience operating press brakes is highly desirable., • Experience with press brake program setup and storage is a plus., • Familiarity with a variety of metal forming processes and fabrication techniques., • Comfort working with hand tools and power tools commonly used in metal fabrication., • Ability to work effectively in a production team environment., • Good communication skills to follow instructions and coordinate tasks with coworkers.Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MILWAUKEE, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
