Work where it matters.Are you an experienced mechanical fitter looking to take ownership in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment?At Tarmac, we are looking for a skilled and proactive Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter to join our engineering team at Clitheroe Quarry. This is a key role supporting multiple sites across the Lancashire region, focused on maintaining plant performance, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement.The RoleAs a Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of quarry and plant equipment. You will work across sites, responding to breakdowns, delivering planned maintenance, and supporting improvement projects within a dynamic operational environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out planned and reactive maintenance across mobileplantRespond to plant breakdowns, restoring equipment to service safely and efficientlyDiagnose mechanical faults and implement robust, long-term solutionsSupport and deliver small engineering and improvement projectsWork collaboratively with contractors and site teamsContribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement activitiesUndertake welding and fabrication to a high standardFollow risk assessments and safe systems of work at all timesMaintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systemsPromote and up hold high standards of health, safety, and environmental complianceWhatYoullBringYou will be a practical, self-motivated engineer with experience in heavy industry or a similar environment, with a strong focus on safety and plant performance.You will also have:A recognised mechanical apprenticeshipExperience in quarrying, industrial plant, or manufacturing environmentsStrong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilityProven ability to carry out effective breakdown repairsWelding and fabrication experienceBasic IT skills (maintenance systems and reporting)A solid understanding of health and safety practicesDesirable:Knowledge of mobile crushers, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings,belt sand vibratory screensWhy Join Tarmac?At Tarmac,yourepart of a business that builds the UKs infrastructure while investing in its people.We offer a supportive, inclusive environment where safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
