Role Overview \n Support a young person in his early 20s who has learning disabilities and may present challenging behaviour. The Support Worker will promote independence, safety, and positive outcomes through daily person-centred support within a caring home environment. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Provide day-to-day support to the individual, including personal care, daily living tasks, and community access.\n, • Support positive behaviour strategies and respond to challenging behaviour in line with agreed plans and risk assessments.\n, • Encourage independence and skill development appropriate to the individual’s needs.\n, • Support routines at home and during activities, maintaining a calm, respectful approach.\n, • Use Makaton to communicate effectively (training/experience required).\n, • Work on a rota basis, including evenings/weekends as required, supporting full-time hours.\n, • Work comfortably in a home environment with pets (dogs and a cat).\n, • Support safe participation in leisure activities, including swimming (must be able to swim).\n\n Requirements \n\n • At least 12 months of relevant UK care experience.\n, • Confident and experienced in supporting adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.\n, • Able to communicate using Makaton (knowledge of signing/communication supported by Makaton).\n, • Able to swim and comfortable supporting swimming-related activities.\n, • Comfortable working around pets (dogs and a cat).\n, • A valid UK driving licence is preferable.\n, • Flexible, reliable, and able to work full time on a rota without requiring sponsorship.\n\n Hours and Location \n\n • Full-time position.\n, • Working on a rota basis.\n, • Location: LE19\n\n
