FIXED TERM CONSULTANT COLORECTAL SURGEON This position is a 12 month fixed term whole time (10 PA) Consultant Colorectal Surgeon appointment for the Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group. There is the option of additional PA's in agreement with the successful candidate. However, any additional PA's will be reviewed annually through the job planning process. If the person appointed elects to undertake a maximum part time contract, he / she will be required to devote substantially the whole of his / her professional time to the duties of the post and to give them priority at all times. Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. The Appointee will be expected, in conjunction with his/her colleagues, to provide a comprehensive general surgical service at Lincoln County Hospital. His/her specialist interest should be in colorectal surgery. The Appointee should be trained in the full range of colorectal surgical services including endoscopy, laparoscopic colorectal surgery and management of inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, he/she will be required to: • Undertake such other duties as may be identified to meet the needs of the service., • Take part in 1:10 Weekly Consultant rota for emergency night and weekend duties and to provide, on a reciprocal basis, emergency cover for colleagues during periods of absence. Along with a 1:12 ward cover, Monday to Friday morning only., • To attend scheduled weekly MDT meetings. This included the colorectal MDT and inflammatory bowel disease MDT., • Carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the Postgraduate Medical Education programme and in the teaching of junior medical staff. To be involved in the education of nursing staff, General Practitioners and other clinical professions. To attend regularly Surgical sub-directorate team meetings., • Have continuing responsibility for patients in his/her care and for the proper functioning of the department., • Take part in team, department, regional and national audits., • Be involved in research where appropriate., • Participate in the management of the surgical service.
