Our client, a well known manufacturing business is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment, carrying out maintenance, repairs, installations, and continuous improvement activities to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. \n The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical maintenance background within manufacturing, production, or industrial environments and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a maintenance team. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing machinery and production equipment.\n, • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.\n, • Strip, repair, overhaul, and rebuild mechanical components including gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, bearings, and motors.\n, • Install, align, and commission new machinery and equipment.\n, • Conduct reactive maintenance in response to equipment breakdowns.\n, • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and schematics.\n, • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.\n, • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.\n, • Work closely with production teams to maintain operational performance.\n, • Complete maintenance documentation accurately using maintenance management systems where applicable.\n, • Assist with shutdowns, machine upgrades, and project work as required.\n\n Skills & Experience Required \n\n • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, or similar role.\n, • Background working within manufacturing, production, FMCG, heavy industry, food manufacturing, automotive, packaging, or industrial environments.\n, • Experience carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance.\n, • Ability to fault-find and diagnose mechanical issues efficiently.\n, • Competent in using workshop tools and precision measuring equipment.\n, • Ability to read engineering drawings.\n, • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.\n, • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.\n\n We're looking for someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems and takes pride in keeping production running efficiently.
