Job summary We require an enthusiastic Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialty interest in MSK Radiology to join our team of 23 substantive Consultant Radiologists on a fixed-term maternity cover basis. The appointee will be primarily based at either Eastbourne DGH or Conquest Hospital Hastings, although this may change depending on service need. Applicants should demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology alongside General Radiology. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the delivery and development of MSK and wider Radiology services within the department. The Radiology Departments are actively involved in teaching, with four radiology trainees on rotation from the HEKSS deanery. Audit and other continuing professional development activities are actively encouraged. This post will be offered on Terms and Conditions in line with national pay scales. Our General Radiology consultant team is responsible for checking scans the following day to ensure quality assurance and education on a 1 in 8 rota. First line on call is provided by Specialty Registrar or Specialty Doctor radiologists until 10pm weekdays and 5pm weekends with on call outsourced to a reporting company overnight. Daytime cover is also provided for a Malignant cord compression MRI at weekends on the same 1 in 8 rota. • MB BS or equivalent, • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists, • Full Registration with licence to practise with GMC, • Included on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of interview or to have obtained CCT within 6 months of interview date. Certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR), • MD or equivalent, • Other higher degree or diploma, • Wide experience of all aspects of radiology including multislice CT and MRI, • Fellowship in a specialist area of Radiology, • Experience in day to day organisation of radiology services in a busy DGH radiology department, • Leadership skills, • Familiar with and committed to the principles of Clinical Governance, risk assessment, adverse incident recording and appraisal, • Understanding of recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance and Appraisal, • Management course and/or qualifications, • Knowledge of the structure of Health Service, • Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit, • Understanding of the role of research, • Completion and/or Publication of audit projects, • Experience of clinical research culminating in presentation and publication of original studies, review articles, etc, relevant to speciality, • Ability to lead clinical research project, • Effective communicator, able to work in a multi-disciplinary team, • Leadership qualities, • Ability to work with colleagues in other specialities to develop local services, • Professional attitude towards work, good record of attendance, • Good communication & interpersonal skills, • Good presentation skills, • Demonstration of initiated projects, • Enthusiasm for teaching medical students, nursing staff and other professional groups, • Educational qualification This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
