Role Overview: This is a 6-month contingent engagement through our staffing partner, Yoh Services, offering the opportunity to contribute to an exciting PlayStation Studios project. We welcome applications from candidates seeking fully remote working within the UK or a hybrid arrangement. As a UI Artist, you will be working with an established UI/UX team to create a range of 2D UI assets, including iconography, representations of the game world, and in-world branding to support consistent and lively presentation. The work will contribute to the UI’s existing graphic design-led visual direction and game branding. What you’ll be doing: • Working within the UI/UX team whilst continuously collaborating with the brand and art teams to concept and create a range of shippable UI assets, particularly icon design, in-world branding, and representations of the game world within the UI., • Building strong, collaborative working relationships with the UI/UX, art, design, and engineering teams to ensure consistency, authenticity, and brand harmony across the UI., • Maintain documentation to track the status of work both in and outside of the game. What we’re looking for: • Expertise with design tools like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and other general design tools., • Excellent creative problem-solving skills by creating simple solutions to complex problems., • Great communicator, with strong presentation skills and the ability to clearly convey your ideas to non-art stakeholders., • A solid grasp of visual design and user interface design principles., • Ability to work autonomously. Advantageous: • Experience creating UI/UX on a shipped title., • Prior experience working with UI design systems in Figma., • Have worked with After Effects and have experience with motion graphics. You’re a skilled artist/graphic designer, with a strong understanding of Core Game and Meta Game design as well as the technical challenges of UI development. Requirements • You’re stylistically diverse, organised and precise, • You have a deep understanding of the roles and workflows of a UI art team, and how an art team integrates with and supports the wider development team, • You’re a fantastic Graphic Designer with a strong knowledge of art theory, • Advanced knowledge of User Interface theory and practice, including terminology and best practices, • Proficiency with typical UI and graphic design tools, alongside a solid general knowledge of art tools and game engines such as Figma, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine, • Ability to create and present high level documentation, style guides and ideation, • Ability to advise team members on UI production matters - with solid experience using production tools like Jira, • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to analyse and comprehend visual direction, • A strong communicator with the ability to verbalise conceptual thoughts and the willingness to accept constructive critique What would help: • Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable, • Experience with direct client communication., • UI concept art and white box wireframing experience What you'll be doing: • Creating professional UI experiences, focusing on the development of excellent UX design, visual layout and concepts, • Organising and reviewing play-tests of user interface prototypes and final in-game UI, • Iterating on playable game flows so that all stakeholders can get a feel for the UI before any expensive implementation is conducted, • Creating motion graphic mock-ups to illustrate complex interactions, • Communicating with stakeholders, extracting requirements and advising on solutions, • Leading by example, setting benchmarks, style guides, high quality standards, workflows, documentation and approvals, • Reporting for internal and client needs, • You’ll keep one eye on the future - research, evaluate and propose practices that keep us on the cutting edge!
