About Schneider DigitalSchneider Digital is the digital department of Schneider Electric, leading the digital transformation in the company by providing support globally to our internal teams and clients.Our Digital Hub in Barcelona is formed by over 450 employees working on strategic projects in areas such as Data, Cybersecurity, ERP, Cloud, Infrastructure, IT Project Management, and Digital Marketing.We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Architect to lead and own the end‑to‑end architecture of our unified web platform.What will you do?Architecture & Platform Ownership- Define, design, and govern end‑to‑end architecture across frontend, middleware, APIs, backend, and integration layers, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security, scalability, and performance requirements.- Drive technology strategy and architectural roadmap for web platforms (B2C, B2B, eCommerce), including cross‑platform dependencies and integrations.- Lead platform‑level initiatives focused on performance optimization, scalability, caching strategies (CDN/edge), and operational resilience; identify and address systemic gaps, bottlenecks, and technical debt across the platform.- Establish observability frameworks, SLOs, and reliability metrics (e.G., Core Web Vitals), and lead RCA with durable fixes.Technical Leadership & Solutioning- Act as the technical authority for complex system design, architecture decisions, and critical delivery milestones.- Provide hands‑on guidance in architecture reviews, solution design, and key code areas; mentor engineering teams to improve engineering quality and maturity.- Translate business requirements into scalable, implementation‑ready solutions, ensuring feasibility and alignment with platform strategy.- Guide adoption of modern architecture patterns including modular/monorepo architectures, microservices, API‑first and event‑driven designs.- Enforce engineering best practices in secure coding, performance optimization, and system reliability.Governance, Quality & Delivery Assurance- Lead architecture governance, design reviews, and technical audits, ensuring adherence to standards, performance benchmarks, and regulatory requirements.- Ensure strong decision gates and quality checkpoints across the delivery lifecycle.- Partner closely with QA, DevOps, and Release Management to ensure robust CI/CD, release governance, and production readiness.- Oversee impact analysis of changes across frontend, backend, APIs, caching layers, and integrations to ensure minimal risk and high release confidence.Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Leadership- Clearly communicate architecture vision, trade‑offs, and risk positions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, and Business teams to align customer experience with platform capabilities.Innovation & Continuous Improvement- Drive adoption of modern web and platform engineering practices (API‑first, cloud‑native, headless CMS, composable architectures).- Introduce tools, frameworks, and practices to improve developer productivity, platform performance, and delivery efficiency.- Stay current with evolving technologies across frontend ecosystems, CMS, and digital commerce platforms.What qualifications will make you successful for this role?Strong experience in enterprise web platform architecture across frontend, backend, and integration layers.Deep understanding of B2C, B2B, and eCommerce customer journeys (logged‑in and non‑logged‑in).Hands‑on expertise in:- SvelteKit, React, Angular, headless UI, SSR/CSR hybrid rendering, reusable components.- Node.Js, Java, serverless architectures (e.G., Lambda), middleware aggregation, server‑side rendering.- Third‑party integrations for search, personalization, content indexing, APIs, microservices, and integration patterns with REST/GraphQL services.- Caching strategies (CDN, edge caching), reverse proxy routing, traffic handling.- CMS and composable platforms such as Builder.Io and Spryker.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), cloud service containers, API gateways, and messaging.Strong understanding of scalability, performance engineering, resilience patterns, and security best practices, using Dynatrace, telemetry, and load‑testing tools such as JMeter;
