ph3Job Description Summary /h3 pThis position will be responsible for executing Protection and Control Engineering and Consulting services in Transmission, Distribution and Industrial markets. Reporting through the Grid Automation Global Engineering and Consulting Center of Excellence manager, the Power System Protection and Control Engineer will be part of the global Center of Excellence (CoE) team. Activities will include designing, programming, testing and commissioning protection and control related applications for power system design and substation automation projects. /p h3Roles and Responsibilities /h3 ul liResponsible for the execution of Engineering and Consulting Services Projects inside the Engineering Consulting CoE. This includes schedule, customer communication, scope of work, budget, and quality. /li liResponsible for leading the development of a project technical scope of work and engineering effort estimations. Lead customer and regional engagements to define customer requirements and develop innovative solutions. /li liExecute engineering studies and analysis across the transmission, distribution, and industrial segments, such as: short circuit, load flow, arc-flash studies, protective device coordination studies. /li liPerform advanced power system studies and analysis such as reliability studies, feasibility studies, power quality, harmonic studies, harmonic mitigation studies, motor starting, power factor correction, transient stability studies, grid code compliance studies, etc. /li liDesign and testing of customized PC solutions (both in house and at customer installations) to meet user specifications requirements. /li liCreate complex relay setting files to include programming of Protection and Control Elements, Complex control Logic and Communications settings for GE and third‑party protective relays. /li liLead the development and design of advanced protection solutions. /li liDevelop test setups, test plans, and test case (including wiring diagrams and configurations of relays and controllers). /li liPerform in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) including Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HIL) tests using real‑time digital simulators. /li liPrepare test reports, project reports, and project deliverables. /li liAnalyze and troubleshoot field cases involving GE or third‑party relays. /li liParticipate in preparation of technical papers to be presented at conferences and other venues. /li liParticipate in business development activities to grow services, including writing and presenting technical papers and delivering customer presentations. /li liConduct trainings to regional operation teams on engineering and consulting activities. /li liAssist software tool development to automate the engineering process internally and externally with key utility partners. /li /ul h3Required Qualifications /h3 ul liB.S (Masters or higher is preferred) in Electrical, Computer or Power Systems Engineering with very good understanding of power system applications and analysis. /li liMinimum (5) years of experience in protection, control, and automation applications. /li liExcellent understanding of power systems phenomena in transmission distribution systems. /li liUnderstanding of power system protection relays, automation, control and communication protocols. /li liEthical and professional business manner in interaction with team members and customers. /li liCustomer focused; open to accept new challenges and share ideas. /li liTechnical skills to execute projects, identify opportunities and write SOW proposals. /li liStrong learning skills, demonstrate collaborative style and Customer focused. /li liWillingness and ability to work across time zones to support global customers if required. /li /ul h3Desired Characteristics /h3 ul liExperienced in study software and power system tools such as PSCAD, PSSE, Power Factory, ASPEN, CAPE for automating the power system study process. /li liUnderstand of communication system protocols and architectures in electric power industry (IEC61850, DNP, Modbus, etc.). /li liExperience with RTDS or Opal Simulation Platforms. /li liFlexibility to work in a multi‑customer environment and to adapt to requests/comments made in the course of execution. /li liExperience with transmission, distribution, and smart grid standards. /li liStrong communication skills including technical writing and presentations. /li liKnowledge or field experience with system commissioning and testing including Doble / Omicron test equipment or similar. /li liExperience with advanced automation solutions such as microgrids and remedial action schemes. /li /ul h3Additional Information /h3 pRelocation Assistance Provided: No /p h3Seniority level /h3 ul liMid‑Senior level /li /ul h3Employment type /h3 ul liFull‑time /li /ul h3Job function /h3 ul liInformation Technology /li /ul h3Industries /h3 ul liElectric Power Generation /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
