ppIRB Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and experienced General Infrastructures and Services Head. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading, planning, and supervising all activities related to the institute's physical infrastructure, laboratory facilities, maintenance, equipment life cycle, and general support services and logistics. Your mission will be to ensure a safe, efficient, and state‑of‑the‑art environment that enables our scientific community to conduct world‑class research seamlessly. /p pIRB Barcelona is currently located at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB). A strategic and highly important project to be developed under your leadership over the next two years is the move to the new Parc de Recerca Biompedica (PRBB) Ciutadella building, now under construction. /p pIRB Barcelona hosts cutting‑edge and highly innovative scientific equipment where technical complexity is highly relevant. With 27 research laboratories and 9 state‑of‑the‑art Core Facilities, our institute operates under demanding technical requirements that require advanced technology, high innovation, and specialized support. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liLead, align, and drive the performance and development of the General Infrastructures and Services team, fostering a collaborative and service‑oriented culture. /li liLead the internal coordination, planning and execution of the relocation project to the new PRBB Ciutadella building. This includes gathering and defining spatial and technical requirements from internal stakeholders, acting as a liaison with the PRBB construction team, as well as identifying new equipment needs and overseeing the physical move. /li liOversee all stages of the lifecycle of scientific equipment in laboratories and technological platforms. Participate in the procurement process by providing technical expertise and coordinate installation and maintenance. In particular, implement and manage the maintenance plan, optimally allocating resources and implementing maintenance outsourcing when needed. /li liCoordinate and oversee the maintenance and optimal functioning of our laboratory spaces and installations in liaison with the building owner (now PCB and PRBB in the near future), as well as manage space refurbishments. /li liCoordinate general support services (such as reception, warehouse, or security), in liaison with the building owner (now PCB and the PRBB in the near future). /li liPlan, define, and evaluate new projects related to IRB infrastructures. /li liSustainability: Integrate sustainability initiatives at IRB Barcelona. /li liHealth, Safety, and Compliance: Act as the infrastructure liaison for the Health Safety Office to facilitate compliance with occupational regulations and biosafety standards, ensuring facility readiness and legal compliance related to general infrastructure. /li liBudget management: Ensure a long‑term vision that integrates technological foresight with value, quality, cost, and sustainability analyses. /li /ul h3You Have /h3 pbEducation: /b University degree in Engineering. Msc or Posgraduate education in Engineering/Facility Management would be a plus. /p pbExperience: /b Solid experience in facility management or infrastructure leadership, ideally within a research centre, university, hospital, or biotech/biopharma environment. /p pbKnowledge: /b Solid technical knowledge of complex facilities, scientific equipment, and laboratory infrastructure. /p h3Skills /h3 ul liProven leadership, negotiation, and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high‑performing teams. /li liHighly collaborative, team‑building, and service‑oriented mindset. /li liOutstanding project management abilities with a proven track record of managing budgets, resources, and tight deadlines. /li liFluency in English, Spanish and Catalan is required. /li /ul h3What We Offer /h3 ul liTo be a part of something meaningful: We are a biomedical research centre that tirelessly works to achieve a society free of diseases.
