ph3Position Title /h3 pCertified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) PRN position, Home Health as needed. /p h3Job Summary /h3 pWorks under the direct supervision of occupational therapists to provide physical rehabilitation to injured or diseased patients, administer treatment plans, assist with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability, and help patients reach maximum performance while learning to live within limits of capabilities. Participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities, and engages in CQI activities. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liProvide treatment as directed by the Occupational Therapist. /li liObserve and evaluate treatment effects, discuss observations with the occupational therapist. /li liAssess patient pain interfering with optimal function or participation and make appropriate physician contact. /li liAssist in the formulation of teaching plans based on identified learning needs, assess effectiveness of learning and involve family as appropriate. /li liMonitor patient activities to ensure they are performed properly and provide encouragement. /li liTreat patients and families with respect and dignity, identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and spiritual needs. /li liMaintain patient safety, reduce likelihood of medical/health care errors, and support a culture of safety and quality. /li liOperate equipment safely and correctly, maintain department cleanliness and safety. /li liInteract professionally with patient/family, involve them in care planning. /li liCommunicate appropriately and clearly to physicians, hospital staff, and department members. /li liCoordinate and assist in directing patient care to ensure needs are met and hospital policy is followed. /li liMaintain documentation to meet current standards and policies. /li liAssist in ordering supplies to maintain adequate inventory. /li liParticipate in infection prevention and control, equipment training, safety and fire safety programs. /li /ul h3Professional Requirements /h3 ul liAdhere to dress code; appearance neat and clean. /li liComplete annual education requirements. /li liMaintain regulatory requirements and patient confidentiality. /li liReport to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated time. /li liWear identification while on duty and use computerized punch time system correctly. /li liComplete inservices and return reports in a timely fashion. /li liAttend annual review and department inservices as scheduled. /li liAttend 12 staff meetings annually or read and return minutes. /li liRepresent the organization positively and professionally. /li liParticipate actively in performance improvement and CQI activities. /li liComply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. /li liCommunicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital and focus statement of the department. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liAA degree from a school or college approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association. /li liCurrent certification/licensure as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. /li liCurrent BLS certification. /li liMust communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. /li liAdditional languages preferred. /li liStrong written and verbal skills. /li liBasic computer knowledge. /li /ul h3Physical Demands /h3 ul liAbility to lift/transfer patients and equipment. /li liFrequent and prolonged bending, stooping, couching, walking, and standing. /li liAbility to communicate. /li /ul h3Safety Sensitive Position /h3 pThis is a safety-sensitive position pursuant to Amendment 98 to the Arkansas Constitution § 2(25).
