You will work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to gather materials, assemble structural components, install mechanical and basic electrical systems, and build each platform level-by-level until the completed product is ready for testing and operation. The position requires strong mechanical assembly skills, the ability to wire motors and sensors, and confidence using hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, layouts, work orders, and assembly instructions to understand build requirements., • Assemble custom multi-level aviation access platforms from the ground up, building each level in sequence according to specifications., • Gather parts, materials, and hardware in accordance with the bill of materials prior to and during assembly., • Measure, cut, and align metals and prefabricated components using a tape measure and appropriate tools to meet specified tolerances., • Use hand and power tools such as sockets, wrenches, impact guns, and drills to install fasteners, rivets, and structural hardware., • Install and align mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and moving assemblies to ensure proper fit and function., • Assist with the installation of powered systems that allow platforms to raise, lower, extend, and position correctly around aircraft and aviation equipment., • Perform fitting, fastening, drilling, and alignment of structural and mechanical components to create stable and accurate assemblies., • Assist with basic electrical assembly tasks such as wiring junction boxes, routing cables, and connecting components as part of the overall equipment build process., • Wire motors and sensors as part of the mechanical assembly process, ensuring proper connections and routing., • Verify proper operation, fit, and function of completed assemblies through self-checks and functional checks as required., • Read a tape measure regularly to confirm dimensions and tolerances throughout the build process., • Identify defects, misaligned parts, or nonconforming components and document issues for follow-up and correction., • Rework or repair assemblies when engineering updates, changes, or corrections are issued., • Perform self-quality checks on completed assemblies to confirm they meet specifications and quality standards., • Keep the workstation organized, safe, and production-ready by maintaining tools, equipment, and materials in good order., • Work at a steady, consistent pace to meet production requirements and delivery timelines., • Collaborate with team members and other departments as needed to complete complex builds and resolve assembly challenges. Essential Skills • Minimum 3+ years of manufacturing assembly experience, preferably with a mechanical background assembling custom machinery, testing equipment, conveyor systems, or similar equipment., • Proven mechanical assembly experience, including building complex or custom equipment from engineering drawings and blueprints., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, layouts, work schematics, and assembly instructions accurately., • Ability to wire motors and sensors as part of mechanical assembly work., • Experience using hand tools and power tools such as sockets, wrenches, impact guns, drills, and related equipment., • Strong tape measure skills, including the ability to measure, cut, and verify dimensions and tolerances accurately., • Comfort working in a role that is approximately 80% mechanical and 20% electrical in nature., • Experience with general production and assembly production processes in a manufacturing environment., • Ability to perform basic electrical wiring tasks such as wiring junction boxes and connecting components., • Capability to perform fitting, fastening, drilling, and alignment of structural and mechanical components., • Attention to detail and ability to perform self-quality checks to ensure assemblies meet specifications., • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Work Environment This position is based in a non-climate-controlled plant environment where you will work around large structural assemblies, mechanical systems, and production equipment. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, with shifts typically running from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., depending on scheduling needs. You will regularly use hand and power tools, including sockets, wrenches, impact guns, drills, and other mechanical assembly tools, as well as basic electrical tools for wiring tasks. The role requires working at a steady pace on the production floor, maintaining an organized and safe workstation, and adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines appropriate for a manufacturing plant environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Apopka, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
