Job Description Job Title: Pipefitter Job Description This role focuses on installing and assembling piping and ductwork for a wide range of commercial HVAC systems. You will work on high-end custom projects, including new construction, renovations, and service work, ensuring that all HVAC piping and sheet metal installations meet quality, safety, and performance standards. Responsibilities • Install piping systems for HVAC applications in commercial projects, including new construction, renovations, and service work., • Braise, solder, and weld pipes and ductwork to ensure secure, leak-free, and durable connections., • Install and assemble rooftop forced air systems, ductless split air systems, and large split central systems., • Work on cooling towers and water-cooled packaged systems, ensuring proper piping layout and connections., • Install hot water and steam coils, modular chillers, and make-up air systems., • Install and fit industrial and kitchen ventilation fans as part of HVAC system layouts., • Support the installation of precision temperature systems for computer rooms and other critical environments., • Install sheet metal duct systems, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and securing ductwork., • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and construction plans to complete accurate installations., • Collaborate closely with foremen, pipefitters, sheet metal mechanics, and installers on site to complete projects efficiently., • Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety procedures while working on active construction and service sites., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly use company tools, equipment, and vehicles., • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress, issues, and required materials. Essential Skills • Hands-on experience in pipefitting for HVAC systems, including installation of piping and ductwork., • Proficiency in brazing, soldering, and welding for HVAC piping and related components., • Experience installing rooftop forced air systems, ductless split air systems, and large split central systems., • Experience working with cooling towers and water-cooled packaged HVAC systems., • Ability to install hot water and steam coils, modular chillers, and make-up air systems., • Experience with industrial and kitchen ventilation fans and their integration into HVAC systems., • Ability to install and support precision temperature systems for computer rooms or similar environments., • Proficiency in installing sheet metal duct systems, including layout, cutting, and fitting., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings., • Knowledge of HVAC construction practices and standards., • Familiarity with OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety practices and regulations., • Strong construction and installation experience in commercial HVAC environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications • EPA certification or familiarity with EPA regulations related to HVAC systems., • Experience working alongside pipefitters, sheet metal mechanics, and HVAC installers on commercial job sites., • Comfort working on high-end custom projects and complex HVAC system layouts., • Willingness to participate in additional classes and training to learn new HVAC systems., • Interest in pursuing further education, including the opportunity to work toward a 4-year degree related to construction or HVAC, supported by the company., • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a field-based environment. Work Environment The role is based out of a South Amboy–area office, with work performed on commercial job sites. You will either travel directly to the job site or meet at the office in the morning and ride in a company truck to the site. The current team includes field supervisors, project managers, estimators, a service manager, a controls manager, dispatch, service technicians, and helpers, creating a well-structured and collaborative field organization. Typical work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. The environment involves active construction and service sites where you use company-provided vehicles, phones, tablets, uniforms, and tools to perform HVAC piping and sheet metal installations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of South Amboy, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $43.00/hr.
