SUMMARY: The Parent Coach/Direct Support Staff will be responsible for conducting parenting classes and one-on-one coaching for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role requires creating lesson plans, implementing and evaluating goals and objectives, and identifying performance/behavior gaps to improve performance. The Parent Coach/Direct Support Staff will also develop independent learning activities and engage parents with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) to promote skill development. Other responsibilities include maintaining records, traveling to conduct coaching sessions, conferring with supervisors, assisting with organization of staffing and logistics, and ensuring services are delivered with dignity and privacy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Create lesson plans and conduct parenting classes at program sites and remotely., • Implement and evaluate short and long-term goals and objectives., • Identify performance/behavior gaps, make recommendations, and provide solutions to improve performance., • Develop independent learning activities to ensure concepts learned during training programs are applied., • Engage parents with I/DD to promote skill development and learning at the sites., • Maintain records of attendance and progress, write reports as requested., • Travel alone to parent's house or community setting to conduct coaching sessions., • Confer with supervisor or other agency personnel regarding problems, questions, and suggestions., • Assist in organizing staffing, transportation, and logistics for in-person sessions., • Ensure services are rendered with utmost regard for personal dignity, privacy, and confidentiality., • Participate in activities outside of the classroom, such as coaching sessions in the home or community setting., • Perform observations and make recommendations to program management., • Serve and participate as a member at interdisciplinary team meetings, reviews, family meetings, etc., • Perform other related duties as requested. Program Summary: The Family Development Coach provides direct case management and participant support services to fathers enrolled in the Fatherhood Initiative.   Job Description Summary: The Family Court Program offers case management and practical assistance to victims of crime. The overall goal of the program is to reduce the impact of victimization through advocacy, counseling and other support services. The Case Manager provides case management services to victims of domestic violence involved in the family court system and victims of crimes committed by juvenile delinquents. Essential Job Functions: · Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients. · Providing client-centered crisis intervention, emotional support and case management to victims of crime and abuse; · Providing information regarding the Family Court process, court procedures and the types of relief available, including Orders of Protection; · Advocating with Family Court personnel (Judges, Court Clerks, Court Officers, civil legal attorneys, etc.) and the criminal justice system on behalf of clients; · Safety planning and risk assessment; · Referring victims to shelters and other services as needed; · Assisting clients with relocation and housing; · Providing emergency practical assistance including OVS compensation applications, transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance, emergency cell phones, lock replacement, etc.; · Attending internal and external meetings, trainings and workshops; · Maintaining thorough and accurate case records and statistics; · Various other duties to be determined by supervisor. Interacts with: Family Court personnel including Judges, Clerks, and Court Officers; Civil Legal Attorneys including members of the 18B panel, Law Guardians, and Domestic Violence attorneys; NYPD; District Attorney’s Office; ACS; and other legal and social service providers. Qualifications and Skills: Required: · Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and other forms of victimization · Experience working with survivors of domestic violence. · Excellent communication and organizational skills. · Ability to work as part of a team while also independently generating tasks. Desirable: · Knowledge of the Family Court and criminal justice system is preferred. · Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Education: Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
