Job Description We are seeking a working supervisor to lead daily field operations while actively supporting the team in the rail yard. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines employee supervision with operational execution. The successful candidate will work alongside drivers and service technicians to ensure locomotive servicing is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This position is responsible for training, coaching, and developing employees while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. The Supervisor of Operations must be willing to step in to perform field work, fill staffing gaps, respond to operational issues, and lead by example. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is safety-focused, and has strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate leads by example, is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and is willing to step in wherever needed to keep operations running safely and efficiently. On-the-job training will be provided. Key Responsibilities • Lead daily field operations by working alongside drivers and service technicians to ensure all customer service requirements are completed safely and on time., • Enforce all company safety policies, PPE requirements, customer-specific safety procedures and compliance initiatives, • Develop a thorough understanding of assigned rail yards, customer contracts, work schedules, and servicing requirements., • Inspect work performed by employees to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with company standards., • Coordinate daily staffing, scheduling, and work assignments to meet operational demands., • Maintain open communication with management, customers, dispatch, vendors, and field personnel regarding operational issues and service updates., • Complete required reports, inspections, safety documentation, and employee records accurately and on time., • Inspect company vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure they are clean, safe, and operating properly., • Perform or coordinate preventive maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and equipment., • Respond to operational emergencies, customer requests, and after-hours issues when necessary., • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction while supporting continuous improvement initiatives., • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the operation., • Fill in for open shifts, employee absences, vacations, and emergency call-outs to maintain uninterrupted customer service., • Train, coach, and mentor employees on safe work practices, company procedures, locomotive servicing requirements, and customer expectations., • Observe employee performance, provide real-time coaching, and hold employees accountable for safety and quality standards., • Monitor and support locomotive servicing operations across assigned rail yards, • Maintain working knowledge of customer requirements, contracts, rail yard layouts, and service schedules, • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new employees, • Complete operational reporting related to safety, fleet maintenance, labor, and inventory, • Maintain strong communication with employees, management, customers, and vendors, • Respond to operational issues quickly and help resolve problems in the field What We’re Looking For • Proven experience supervising field employees in transportation, logistics, rail, industrial, or similar operations, • Strong hands-on leadership style with the ability to lead by example, • Experience managing fleet operations, vehicle inspections, and maintenance coordination, • Class A or Class B CDL preferred with a minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience, • Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and workplace safety compliance, • Mechanically inclined with basic troubleshooting and repair knowledge, • Strong communication, decision-making, and organizational skills, • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced operational environment, • Willingness to work outdoors and actively participate in field operations daily Physical & Work Environment • Ability to lift to 50 lbs., • Ability to climb on trucks, locomotives, and ladders, • Ability to walk and work on uneven surfaces and rail yard terrain, • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing, • Outdoor work environment in all weather conditions, • May require extended hours, weekends, or emergency response support based on operational needs Requirements • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, physical fitness exam, and background check, • Ability to obtain and maintain customer-specific site access requirements Why Join Us • Competitive salary based on experience, • Performance-based bonus program, • Career growth opportunities within a growing company, • Benefits package, • Paid time off and paid training, • Hands-on leadership role with direct operational impact, • Opportunity to work alongside and lead field teams in a fast-paced environment Company DescriptionMobile Rail Solutions, Inc. is a fast-growing company that provides customized locomotive services to Class I railroad companies.
