Assistant Employment Advisor Location: Central Bexleyheath (Office Based) Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour PAYE / £19.43 per hour Umbrella Contract: Ongoing Temporary Assignment Hours: Full Time \n About the Role \n We are recruiting on behalf of a Bexleyheath-based Local Authority for an Assistant Employment Advisor to support local residents in their journey towards sustainable employment. \n Working alongside Employment Advisors and Employer Engagement Advisors, you will help prepare adult job seekers for work by delivering employability support, facilitating workshops, supporting job search activities, and matching suitable candidates to employment opportunities. This is a varied and rewarding role requiring strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to motivate individuals who may face barriers to employment. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Support the Employment Advisors and Employer Engagement Team in preparing residents for employment opportunities.\n, • Deliver one-to-one appointments, employability workshops, introductory sessions, and job search support activities.\n, • Provide information about employment support programmes and services to potential participants.\n, • Attend job fairs, outreach events, and community engagement activities, including off-site delivery when required.\n, • Complete client onboarding processes and ensure all paperwork is accurately completed in line with funding and compliance requirements.\n, • Support and motivate clients with their job search activities, providing guidance on vacancies, working interviews, and pre-employment training opportunities.\n, • Assist clients with creating and updating CVs and uploading profiles to online job search platforms.\n, • Deliver one-to-one and group support covering:\n \n, • CV writing and development\n, • Online job searching\n, • Job applications and application forms\n, • Interview preparation and techniques\n, • Job club activities\n, • Use of public access online job sites\n \n, • Arrange interviews, referrals to training courses, and attendance at vacancy sessions to help clients develop skills and access employment opportunities.\n, • Work closely with colleagues in the Employer Engagement Team to identify suitable candidates for live vacancies.\n, • Maintain accurate records and update case management systems as required.\n\n Essential Requirements \n\n • Experience supporting individuals into employment through return-to-work, welfare-to-work, employability, careers, recruitment, or related programmes.\n, • Experience delivering customer support, guidance, coaching, advice, or workshop-based activities.\n, • Confidence working with vulnerable, disengaged, or resistant clients and helping them overcome barriers to employment.\n, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a diverse range of clients.\n, • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.\n, • Competent IT skills, including experience using online job boards and maintaining client records.\n, • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.\n, • Willingness to work full-time, office-based in Central Bexleyheath.\n, • Ability to successfully pass a Standard DBS Check.\n\n Desirable Requirements \n\n • Previous experience within employment support, local authority, community, housing, education, or public sector services.\n, • Knowledge of local labour market opportunities and employability support services.\n, • Experience of IPS (Individual Placement and Support) or SEQF programmes, although this is not essential.\n
