Job description: Bread Baker/Roll Plant Operator Location: At our Bakery in Sawbridgeworth Reports to: Bakery Manager Job Type: Full Time Permanent Working Hours: average 40hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 5.00am to 1.00pm, Saturday from 3.00am to 10.30am Successful candidate will be required to work 6 Thursdays per year. Overall Summary We are seeking a skilled and reliable Bread Baker / Roll Plant Operator to join our bread production team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of breads and bread rolls while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and food safety. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who is committed, professional, polite, and always willing to support colleagues in a fast-paced production environment. You will play a key role in ensuring all products are produced efficiently and meet the bakerys quality standards. A Bakers responsibilities include starting early in the morning to produce baked goods for delivery or sale during regular business hours, ensuring that Dorringtons consistently offers fresh, high-quality products to customers each day. The Baker plays an important role in maintaining product consistency, following production procedures, and ensuring all bakery items meet company quality and food safety standards. Their duties and responsibilities include: Monitoring the quality and standard of ingredients Preparing equipment for daily production Measuring and weighing wet and dry ingredients accurately Using mixing equipment to mix and combine ingredients Operating roll plant machinery and bread mixers following recipes and procedures Kneading and moulding dough to the required standards Carrying out finishing tasks to ensure products are presentation-ready Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the production area Working efficiently to meet daily production targets and deadline Requirements Baking requires attention to detail and careful measuring of ingredients. Baking is a science, and Bakers must be good at following directions and recipes in order to make a deliciously finished product. A successful Baker candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications that include the following. Ability to meet tight deadlines. Excellent baking skills Knowledge of health and safety regulations Knowledge of production techniques for baked goods Organisational and planning skills Ability to multitask.
