ppThe Mobile Robotics research line of the Robotics and Automation Unit at Eurecat Technology Center (Barcelona) is seeking a highly motivated researcher, with strong expertise in AI, perception, navigation, localization and/or fleet management to work on AI-Driven Autonomy for Ground and Aerial Robotic Systems. /p pThe candidate will address challenges across diverse application domains such as agriculture, logistics, construction, search and rescue, inspection and maintenance, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing, focusing on integrating Artificial Intelligence into real‑world robotic systems to increase autonomy, adaptability, and cognitive capabilities. /p pWe are looking for candidates with strong robotics software development skills (including ROS/ROS2) and proven experience working with real robotic platforms and field deployments. /p pOur group specializes in applied research and development in service and industrial robotics, aiming to enhance robot intelligence for complex behaviours in real environments. We focus on: /p ul liGround and Aerial robot’s autonomous navigation. /li liPerception, cognition, and behaviour modelling. /li liFleet coordination and cooperative multi‑robot systems. /li liHuman‑robot collaboration and AI‑driven decision‑making. /li /ul pOver the last 15 years, our team has successfully delivered cutting‑edge solutions to industrial and service clients, and contributed to some of the most relevant European and Spanish robotics projects. Learn more about our research lines and projects: Robotics and Automation – Eurecat Technological Centre. /p h3RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liParticipate in the definition, design, and development of new AI‑driven robotics concepts. /li liScientific and technical contributions to project advancements. /li liDevelopment, validation, and maintenance of high‑quality software for applied research in robotics. /li liIntegration and deployment of robotic systems in field trials. /li liParticipation in scientific publications and dissemination activities. /li liSupport project management to ensure proper execution and delivery. /li liMaintain active collaboration with clients, partners, and multidisciplinary teams. /li /ul h3Requisitos /h3 h3Required Skills /h3 h3Academic Background /h3 ul liPhD, MSc, or equivalent experience in Robotics, AI, Computer Vision, or related fields. /li /ul h3Mandatory /h3 ul liStrong background in autonomous navigation and localization, including path planning, SLAM, and perception systems for ground and/or aerial platforms. /li liProficiency in ROS/ROS2 and solid programming skills (C++ and Python). /li liFamiliarity with simulation environments for mobile robotics (e.g., Gazebo, AirSim, or Isaac Sim). /li liAI/ML applied to robotics (semantic mapping, 3D scene understanding, reinforcement learning, or multi‑robot coordination). /li liExperience with Edge AI deployment: optimizing Deep Learning models for real‑time execution on onboard hardware (Jetson, NUC). /li liExperience with real robotic platforms. /li /ul h3Nice to Have (Specialization Tracks) /h3 h3Aerial /h3 ul liExperience in the design and implementation of advanced control architectures for multirotor and VTOL (Vertical Take‑Off and Landing) platforms. /li liExperience with low‑level control for aerial robots. /li liKnowledge of flight control stacks such as PX4 or ArduPilot, and their integration with ROS/ROS2 (Mavros/DDS). /li /ul h3Multi‑Robot Fleet Intelligence /h3 ul liExperience in the implementation of multi‑agent coordination strategies for heterogeneous fleets (UAVs and UGVs) in collaborative tasks. /li liFleet‑level optimization. /li /ul h3Perception Cognitive Robotics /h3 ul liAdvanced 3D perception (LiDAR, RGB‑D, stereo) and scene understanding. /li liSemantic mapping and world modeling for long‑horizon autonomy. /li liBehaviour planning and decision‑making architectures. /li liIntegration of learning‑based components into navigation stacks. /li /ul h3Soft Skills Practical Aspects /h3 ul liExcellent communication skills, adaptability, and creativity. /li liFluent English; other languages are a plus. /li liAvailability to travel occasionally. /li /ul h3WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND BENEFITS /h3 pOur laboratory is located in Cerdanyola del Vallès, just outside Barcelona (Spain).
