Together we are a dynamic group of 135 highly educated and passionate employees, split between our headquarter in The Hague Ypenburg (NL) and our site in Lambourn (UK). /p h3Job description /h3 h3What is your new job? /h3 pThe bSupport Engineer /b is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing an automated system that includes industrial robotics, composite material handling, and supporting software applications. This role acts as the technical backbone for production teams, ensuring minimal downtime and reliable system performance in a high‑precision composite manufacturing environment. /p pThe unique character of Airborne is the combination of composites, mechanical and software expertise that create the ground-breaking automation and digital solutions. /p h3What are your responsibilities? /h3 pbSystem Robot Support. /b Provide first- and second-line support for robotic equipment used in composite production (pick‑and‑place robot, cutting cell automation). Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues with robotic systems. Monitor system health, perform periodic checks, and execute preventive maintenance tasks. /p pbSoftware Support. /b Troubleshoot application-level issues involving: Machine control software (PLC, robot programs), Custom nesting software, Data interfaces (APIs, SQL databases, OPC-UA communication). Implement minor software updates or parameter adjustments based on engineering guidance. /p pbProduction Assistance. /b Assist operators and technicians with day-to-day issues at the cutting room or kitting workstation. Train end-users on system usage, new features, and best practices. Capture and uplift complex issues to the engineering team. /p pbTechnical Documentation. /b Maintain detailed logs of incidents, root causes, and resolutions. Create support documentation, quick‑start guides, and maintenance checklists. /p pbContinuous Improvement. /b Identify recurring problems and propose improvements in workflow, configuration, or hardware. Participate in testing of new software releases or robot program updates. /p h3Job Requirements /h3 h3Education /h3 ul liBachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Automation/Aerospace) /li /ul h3Technical skills /h3 ul liExperience supporting industrial robots (e.g., KUKA, ABB). /li liBasic to intermediate programming capabilities: ul liPLC Siemens – ability to read and interpret ladder logic or structured text. /li liRobot programming languages or teach pendant experience. /li liScripting or basic coding (Python or similar) is a plus. /li /ul /li liFamiliarity with industrial communication protocols (OPC-UA, fieldbus systems). /li liUnderstanding of composite production processes (prepreg, cutting, kitting) is highly desirable. /li /ul h3Software IT Skills /h3 ul liGood knowledge of Windows-based systems, industrial PCs, and networks. /li liAbility to analyze logs, troubleshoot and read system diagnostics. /li liBasic understanding of data logging systems is a plus. /li /ul h3Work experience /h3 ul li2–5 years in a support, maintenance, or automation engineering role. /li liExperience in manufacturing, preferably aerospace/composites, is an advantage. /li /ul h3Other /h3 ul liStrong problem‑solving mindset with a practical, hands‑on approach. /li liClear communication with operators and engineers. /li liAbility to work under pressure, especially in production environments. /li liCustomer‑oriented attitude. /li liAbility to communicate technically in English and Spanish. /li /ul h3Availability, Location Mobility /h3 ul liWilling to be on on‑call between 07:30 – 22:30. /li liLives or willing to relocate within 1 hour travel distance of Getafe, Spain. /li liWilling to travel to other locations in Europe for on‑site support training at the headquarters in the Netherlands. /li /ul h3Our offer /h3 pWhat we offer /p pWorking at Airborne Composites Automation will give you the opportunity to develop your career by working on highly innovative projects.
