ph3Job Description /h3 pCIC energiGUNE is recruiting a candidate to pursue a PhD within a MSCA Doctoral Network Grant – Agreement No. with the European Commission. The objective of the project is to understand how solid–solid interfaces in next‑generation batteries evolve under operating conditions, and how this evolution affects ion transport, degradation, and safety. The doctoral candidate will use quantum‑mechanical simulations, complemented by advanced machine‑learned potentials, to model how charge, atoms, ions, and defects move across buried electrode–electrolyte interfaces that are difficult to access experimentally. Work will be carried out in close interaction with other partners, ensuring that experimental and theoretical results iteratively inform each other. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liPerform high‑quality research within the scope of the project. /li liPrepare reports and papers for submission to peer‑reviewed journals. /li liPresent results at international conferences. /li liProvide guidance to master’s and visiting students when required. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liApplicant must not already hold a doctoral degree at the date of recruitment. /li liApplicant must not have resided or carried out the main activity in Spain for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date. /li liEligibility will be verified at the time of recruitment. /li liMaster’s in physics, chemistry, materials science or similar. /li liExcellent communication and writing skills, thorough command of the English language. /li liHigh motivation to undertake a PhD in an interdisciplinary experimental research environment. /li liAbility to work independently and as a member of an international, multi‑disciplinary team. /li liStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills. /li /ul h3Benefits /h3 ul li3‑year predoctoral contract and advantageous professional development opportunities. /li liFull access to cutting‑edge laboratory facilities and characterization platforms. /li liIncorporation to a top research centre in Europe that makes high quality research and impactful contributions to the energy and sustainability fields. /li liOpportunity to attend seminars, international conferences, trainings, etc. /li liIntegrated, enthusiastic, international and multidisciplinary environment. /li liFlexible working hours promoting work‑life balance and self‑organisation. /li liOn‑site work model with the option to telework. /li liWelcome programme that offers help with finding accommodation and addresses other aspects to help integrate into the local environment (free language courses, assistance with administrative procedures, help with schools for children). /li /ul h3Equal Opportunity Statement /h3 pCIC energiGUNE is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
