Title: SAP Production Planning ConsultantStart Date: July/August 2026Term: thru December 31 2026Location: Madrid/Alcala, SpainCandidates must be local and be able to work hybrid/onsite.About the roleConsultants SAP – Production Planning within the Global SAP Co E are deep functional and system specialists responsible for designing, enhancing, and supporting SAP solutions in a specific Value Stream. They handle L1.5+ application support and business process improvements, ensuring efficient and timely issue resolution. The ‘Make’ stream covers all manufacturing and shop floor execution processes, including basic production planning/capacity checking, production execution, quality management and shopfloor data acquisition. The SAP Make team manages scheduling, materials management, and quality control using SAP solutions to ensure efficient, real‑time manufacturing and process improvement.The Consultant SAP – Production Planning requires a solid background in production planning, and material requirements planning within SAP, as this role ensures accurate alignment of production plans with customer demand and supports in the effective interpretation of business end‑user requirements. The role involves designing, customizing, and developing specifications to resolve issues, enhance solutions, and fulfil business expectations.The Consultants SAP – Production Planning in the EMEA/APAC region work in a team of ± 3 FTE reporting directly into the Manager SAP – Production Planning EMEA/APAC. The Consultant SAP is expected to travel occasionally to visit one of the Global SAP Co E Hubs (which are located in France and Mexico).AccountabilitiesAddress and resolve support tasks for the area, including L1.5 to L3 issues (BPIs, changes, bugs, etc.).Research potential solution improvements and issue corrections, proactively identifying and proposing business process and solution enhancements.Gather and prioritize product requirements, working with Global & Local Key Users to elicit requirements.Refine business requirements, design solutions, perform SAP configuration, specify developments, test, ensuring solution alignment with business requirements.Prepare functional specifications and test cases for any custom development.Unit and integration testing of solutions before releasing them for user acceptance testing. Assist end users during UAT.Document changes, improvements, and newly implemented business processes, maintaining documentation related to support activities, configurations, and customizations.Provide materials and training to Regional & Local Key Users, promoting effective utilization of SAP solutions.Perform cutover and migration tasks, ensuring seamless transition and handover of solutions to the wider team.Ensure the integrity of core solutions for the area and integration with adjacent areas, taking operational responsibility for the SAP products.Ensure work is delivered and complies with all working procedures, safeguarding the core solution principles.Stakeholder CollaborationDiscuss solution enhancements with the Product Manager, escalating issues or conflicts with SW core solution principles.Collaborate with Solution Architects to ensure the technical feasibility and integrity of product features.Collaborate with Service Managers to ensure consistent operational practices across products and act as a liaison between business functions and technical teams (Development Factory, Basis, Security & Access).Collaborate with Project Managers and other project team members to deliver project work, e.G., estimating WBS elements for delivery, conducting workshop sessions, performing data collection, identifying solution enhancements, delivering the business blueprint, designing solutions, performing configurations, specifying developments, testing, conducting training sessions, performing cutover and migration tasks, etc.Role organization and scopeAll Consultants SAP are part of the broader SAP Solutions department in the Global SAP Co E. The SAP Solutions (SAP Products) organization manages the delivery of SAP solutions that fulfil business process requirements and covers the full lifecycle of the group’s SAP applications. Structured around value streams such as Finance, Sourcing, and Manufacturing, this team is responsible for the design, delivery, optimisation, and support of SAP‑enabled business solutions. It serves as the primary interface with business stakeholders, ensuring that products enable our business, deliver value, remain fit‑for‑purpose, and support both global standardisation and necessary local needs. The department drives business process improvement, innovation, and user experience for all SAP products.Qualifications, knowledge, and experience5‑9 years of relevant working experience delivering SAP solutions, SAP configurations and custom development.Fluent in business English (verbal and written).Fluency in one or more additional languages (e.G., Spanish or French) is a significant asset.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Experience in the SAP PP module.Experience with MM, QM and LO‑VC a plus.Strong understanding of production planning and manufacturing processes.Experience in process industry e.G., Forest Products, Mills, Packaging, Mining, Chemicals.Demonstrated experience in SAP configuration, custom development, and preparing functional specifications and test cases.Proven track record of solution design, implementation, and support in complex and regulated organisational landscapes.Understanding of product lifecycle management, value stream principles, and best practices in SAP delivery.Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on maintaining data quality, compliance, and risk mitigation. Proficiency in SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, MS Office, and collaboration platforms.Excellent collaboration and communication skills, working cross‑functionally with business, technical teams, and end users.High standards of professional ethics, customer orientation, and the ability to thrive in multicultural, geographically dispersed teams.
